Pain control after hysterectomy

Hi everyone! I have had rheumatoid for the past 12 yrs. I am on multiple meds for this. Unfortunately, I also take 2 different strong narcotics multiple times per day. Because of the pain pills I have a huge tolerance. I had my gallbladder out in 2014, and the pain med they gave me thru the iv was like watet. No help.I realize the medical people don't know me and they practically assume everyone is a drug seeker. Does anyone else have ra or a tolerance to pain meds?

When I had a back surgery after my hysterectomy, I had been taking pain meds prior. I told both my surgeron and my anesthesiologist about what I had been prescribed, by whom, and that I had developed that tolerance. Knowing that, they designed a protocol that helped control my pain, which was different from the "standard" protocol. It can help if you ask your prescribing doctor to communicate with your surgeon about why they have prescribed what you are taking. That way they will likely see your concerns as legitimate and will be less likely to see you as a drug seeker.
