Questions for those who had TVH
I am just over two weeks out, haven't had to take pain meds since about 5 days post op. Feel super, really. A bit like post partum pain for a week or so and right now suffering with off and on sever back pain.
Find riding in a car still to be a bit odd, uncomfortable but not really painful. Have had very little discharge, think that also stopped the first week. Still get a light tinge of pinkish yellow which I assume is stitches.
I over did one day last week and paid for it by being uncomfortable, so now I do nothing but dishes, fold laundry and supervise the guys in the house lol.
Personally would recommend the TVH to anyone that can have it. Really with no complications due to the surgery it is a cake walk.
Good luck!

Questions for those who had TVH
Hey Sunshine. I was just like daVinci - very little pain, mostly just "uncomfortable" from time to time. I spent a lot of time in the recliner. Sitting put pressure on my tender parts and lying down hurt my back. Reclining was perfect.
By week two I felt pretty good and had to keep reminding myself that I had just had major surgery to prevent myself from doing too much. By week three I was rearing to go, but my doc made me stay on sick leave until week 6.
Everything was moving normally while I was still in the castle -appetite, gas, and bm by the evening of my surgery. I didn't need any pain medication after the morphine pump was removed, except an occasional tylenol when I was at home.
While at the castle, don't be afraid to ask for what you need (or even want!) The nurses are there to take care of you. I got all the grape juice I asked for and I even got a grape popsicle after surgery to soothe my sore throat! They will also answer your questions and explain anything you don't understand. I think they like getting to share their expertise and knowledge with you! I had an extended stay preop because of other medical complications - one of my nurses even helped me wash my hair! She was wonderful!
Though everyone heals differently, the TVH is minimally invasive as hysters go and the healing time seems to be quicker and less painful. Just take it easy. When you hurt, take something for pain. When you're tired, rest. If you crave chocolate, eat chocolate.

Questions for those who had TVH
I had a TVH and mid-urethral sling placed almost 4 weeks ago. I had a rough 2-3 days after the hospital. After that i stopped the narcotics and slowly returned to normal. I had major swelling down there from the sling placement I think. I was up full force by 1 week, so the recovery was faster that. I am only 31 and had this done for adnomyosis, grade 2 prolapse, and incontinence issues. I do have 3 kids, so more children was out of the question for me. The recovery was easier than the birth of my 1st child

Questions for those who had TVH
Awesome. Thank you for the information. I never had any kids, so I have nothing to compare it to. I am prepared to (I think) to handle feeling crappy the 1st week, but I'm hoping the 2nd week will be better. I will be back to work the 3rd week. I am in 911 dispatch so a lot of sitting or standing, nothing real physical.
What scares me the most is being in the hospital!!!

Questions for those who had TVH
Hey Sunshine!! I had a TVH on Oct. 1, removed cervix. I really have no complaints. Woke up from surgery with cramps not to bad. I had to stay in recovery a little longer because my blood pressure was very low. My surgery was at 7:30 got to my room at about 1:00. I did have a cathater in until about 9:00 pm , I never had that packing stuff I have heard about. I was at the castle for one night went home the next day at around noon.
I made sure that the first two days I just kept up on the pain meds. Didn't even want to take a chance of being in any more pain. The pain was not to bad. My best friend through this whole experience has been a HEATING PAD, used it all the time and still using it in the evenings. Another thing that I suggest getting are the tucks pads, they are for hemeroids. They have witch hazel in them and it feels MUCH better to wipe with them instead of TP. I am three weeks out and I still am spotting a little. I have only needed pantie liners since I have gotten home. I just first slept in my bedfor the first time last night. I was just very uncomfortable in bed and was sleeping on our recliner chair. Well I hope this helps you a little. make sure you get lots of sleep sleep sleep and more sleep when you get home and your recovery will ge much smoother. Good luck!!!!!

Questions for those who had TVH
Hi Sunshine:
I had a TVH 3 days ago and my bleeding has been very minimal. I didn't have any packing and have only had a tiny bit of bleeding on my TP when I wipe...I know there's a 100% cotton pad you can purchase, but don't know the brand name.
My pain level has been pretty high, so my pain meds have been my friend. So is my heating pad!
I'm hoping that I'm pretty self-sufficient (as long as I'm smart about it) by next week. I'm returning to work after 2 weeks, too.
I haven't had any problem walking or going up stairs as long as I move slowly. I know walking is highly recommended, just to get everything moving again!
I feel like I have a full, swollen belly and it's pretty firm. Don't be afraid of stool softeners!
Best of luck!

Questions for those who had TVH
I had a TVH a little over 2 weeks ago and can't imagine going back to work already???!!!! My Dr. insists on 6 weeks off, possibly 8 if she sees something she doesn't like at the 4 week post-op check-up. I haven't had any narcotic pain meds since a couple hours after the surgery, so pain isn't the issue. It's more a feeling of lethargy and tiredness. Anyway, good luck, I'm sure everything will turn out just fine!
