week to go....nervous & anxious - Catheter question

Hello all..

I have a week and a day to go before my surgery...nervous & anxious all at the same time. I love love love this site and thank you all for your replies & just am grateful for this site. Thanks to it, I have a much better idea of what to expect.

So my daughter is staying here the night of surgery to help with my son and then the next day she will take me to stay at my sis' house for the rest of the week. My husband works a lot & weird hours so I will need to go to where I can get help...thankfully I will have help with my son and that's my main concern right now.

I'm hoping I will feel ok & be able to drive just a little the next week..I will need to get my son to preschool 3 days and daycare the other two..that way I can rest. If I can't drive, he'll have to stay here with me OR I will have to try & find someone to take him...we'll see. My sitter will bring him home everyday so that will help. Seems like some of you could drive & some couldn't, so we'll see...I am a wuss so should be interesting.

My biggest question now is catheter...my doc said I would have it for a whole week..I haven't seen anyone yet that has had one for that long. I am having bladder work done, too, so not sure if that is the reason..just don't know. Does that sound right or normal?? Maybe he was just guessing--ha. I have my pre-op deal this Friday so will ask but wanted to see what you thought.

This week will be tough...have lots of stuff to get ready at work for me being gone and all..

Anyway thanks and talk to ya later!!

week to go....nervous & anxious - Catheter question

I have 2 weeks and 1 day before my surgery. I am also having bladder work done at the same time as my hysterectomy. I was told that I would remain in the hospital for 3-4 days, using the catheter the whole time and possibly have to use a catheter once I was home. I believe that the work being done on the bladder must be the reason for having a catheter for a longer period of time. My doctor talked like after the work was done on my bladder, it could take a little while for it to start to function normally again. This was not good news because I am SUPER sensitive to catheters!!!
