LAVH: Who is doing/did your surgery- OB/GYN? general surgeon? other?

My surgeon was my OB/GYN. I don't know who assisted her, I met her about 2 minutes before they knocked me out. My OB/GYN had an Oncologist and Radiologist look me over during surgery to make sure she didn't have to send me to another hosp. in case cancer was found. She consulted with a General Surgeon so she could repair my umbilical hernia. She couldn't do Davinci on me because fibroids were too large. I think she was very thorough. One of my RNs asked me "How did you get Dr. ---- to do your surgery. Never had a nurse envious of my Dr before.

My normal OB/GYN did my LAVH/BSO. She was wonderful. Very easy recovery.

My OB/GYN performed my surgery, along with an assisting OB/GYN from the same practice.

An OB GYN did my surgery, but wish I'd seen a GYN oncologist for it since I had to see one in the end anyway.

My physician referred me to a gynecological surgeon. I am waiting on a call right now to have my pre-op appointment with him. I am so anxious.

I am having mine done by an oncologist due to my endometriosis. You never know what you are getting into in those cases so my gyn wanted someone that could handle anything.

My hysterectomy and posterior repair will be done by a gynecologist. The anterior repair and sling will be done by a urologist. It will all be done at the same time.

Mine was done by my gyn.

my da vinci is being done by my gynecological oncologist. He was my 3rd opinion though, had I not gone with him I would have had it done through my gynecologist.

I was not happy with the low number of LSH procedures that my own obgyn has done (he is an awesome doctor though), plus he admitted that it was highly likely that he may have to convert to an abdominal hyst due to my large uterus. I let him know that I would be looking around.

I found a surgeon in Atlanta who does nothing but female pelvic surgery. Does not deliver babies. He has done over 1,000 LSH surgeries with a very low conversion rate and is confident he can do mine despite my large uterus. I'm still VERY NERVOUS! I'm 45 and perimenopausal. I don't want my ovaries to shut down. Guess menopause is gonna happen no matter what I do.
