Re: Need tips for getting house and family organized

Before surgery I was in to much pain to get anything ready so the things I wish I had known/done were.....

1. ASK FOR HELP getting ready. 2. Moved things like dvds/movies/books to a higher shelf. (I came home and couldn't watch anything because I couldn't bend down to reach them and we don't have normal TV. lol). 2. Had more pre cooked HEALTHY, but easily digestible, foods in the freezer. ( I couldn't eat veggies, salads etc they wouldn't digest.)
3. Had a larger stock of water and juice. 4. MORE clean towels and washrags. (We seemed to go through them like crazy.) 5. I should have had my husband design a table that would fit over my recliner to hold my lap top. Putting it on my body for hours a day hurt like heck but it was the only entertainment I had. 6. Stock up on lots of paper plates, plastic utensils, napkins, paper towels etc.

And last but not least.....ASK FOR HELP ASK FOR HELP ASK FOR HELP.....then be grateful when folks help

Pamper the !

Re: Need tips for getting house and family organized

I agree with everything Kayla just suggested.I went through the house and moved everything to waist and eye level that I would need post op. I was told ahead of time I would not be able to bend or reach so I knew I wouldn't be allowed. I did not however realize pre op that I would not BE ABLE to do these things.I was shocked when I came home to realize that It was not even remotely possible for me to get something off the top shelf of my bathroom medicine cabinet. It hurt the first week to even reach high enough to comb my hair. That was a big surprise.
