3 Months And Slow Progress

Went back to the DR last week for 12-week checkup - she said all the granulation had finally gone away. Although my pain has finally gone, I still complained of a heavy, dull "dropping out" feeling in the bladder area (had this prior to surgery too, but thought it was due to 3rd degree prolapse of bladder, uterus and rectum)- she looked at a bladder diary I had kept and said I had overactive bladder - I sometimes go frequently and have slow stream. I am taking Enablex which helps at times with frequency and slow stream, but I still question whether I should be having the pressure and "dropping out" feeling this far into recovery. DR doesn't seem that concerned about that. She did find a yeast infection and gave me Diflucan for that. Anyway, all of this is driving me crazy and I feel just about as bad as I did before the surgery! Any ideas on what to do?

I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling normal yet. It really does take a long time to heal. It took me a long time to get past the granulation and I'm still having frequent yeast infections. I find that I get the "dropping out" feeling when the yeast infection is acting up, so that could be the same for you. Did your DR examine you for further prolapses? I hope things improve soon.

I just want to add a here..... I also found it took some time (probably a few months) for my bladder function to get back to normal -- probably because my bladder and uterus were adhered to each other.

You say you had a prolapse before surgery -- did they fix it? If not, then I would think that these problems could be related to the prolapse. Maybe it wasn't a prolapse after all, huh?

Sorry I can't be of any more help. I hope someone else will come along and share her experience with you!

Thanks for all your kind thoughts - yes, I had three prolapses prior to surgery - was diagnosed by two different doctors - 3rd degree prolapse of the uterus, bladder and rectum. Supposedly, all of this was fixed during the surgery and my DR has an extremely good reputation as a surgeon. Of course, no one is perfect. I'm wondering about the yeast infection - she gave me the generic version of Diflucan (the one tablet dose)- I took it last week and the itching has stopped, but still having some clear discharge. I did get refills on that, so I'm wondering if I might not need to get another refill in case it's not cleared up completely. The yeast is probably coming from several antibiotics I had to take earlier to combat urinary infection and bacterial vaginosis. I also take Vagifem, a vaginal estrogen, and I see vaginal discharge and yeast infection as part of the possible side effects. One medicine treats one thing and sets up something else!
