Post-hysterectomy 2+ months - Belly weight gain

Post-op 2mths 2 weeks
OK I am getting frustrated. Is it normal to gain weight around the belly area. I haven't changed my diet and try to exercise at least 3 to 4 times a week, I work 3rd shift, sleep in the day up all night. I was thinking of going vegan for 1 month to see if it has to do with the meat I eat.
Is there something else I can do/eat to feel normal again?

Thank you,

Bernadette

Re: Post-hysterectomy 2+ months - Belly weight gain

braquelross,

Do you think it's weight in your belly or is it swelling from surgery? Many of us have Swelly Belly post op and it can last for months. For me, it lasted much, much longer and makes my belly look perfectly round like I ate a basketball. If it's swelling, no diet or exercise will make it go away. If it is weight or perhaps weak muscles from your surgery, perhaps targeting that area with your exercise plan will help.

You may also consider discussing this with your doctor next time you see him to see if he has any suggestions for you.

Here is an article on Swelly Belly.

And here is a link to the General Discussion Forum, where ladies share tips on exercise and weight loss. You may find some tips there on what worked for other women.

Sweetie, and let us know how you make out.

Re: Post-hysterectomy 2+ months - Belly weight gain

Most women are past the swelly belly stage around the 3 month mark. In rare cases, it can last much, much longer.

Swelly belly goes down at night while we rest, and gets bigger as the day wears on. Try measuring your waist when you get up in the morning and again at bedtime. My belly is much bigger at the end of the day. This indicates to me that it's not fat around my middle, it's the tissues swelling with extra fluid.
