Life After Hysterectomy

Hey everyone! So I just wanted to share my experience with the Group. I had a TVH(total vaginal Hysterectomy) on July 27, 2016 due to heavy bleeding & severe cramping. I have had this issue all my life. I'm 31 yrs old & have had these problems but they seem to have worsen once I got my tubes tied after my 3rd baby in 2008. Now my Dr. told me he was leaving the decision up to me. I had a biopsy & it was thought to have been cancerous, but thank God it came back negative. July I decided to have the surgery. It was a few hours maybe 3-4 hrs. I had to be at the hospital @ 5AM & they started around 9am & finished up around 1245. I was in ALOT of pain after. I stayed in the hospital 2 days. I couldn't urinate they had to cath me. I was encouraged to walk on the 2nd day. I was given Toradol morphine, & Percocet. The pain was pretty bad for me. I had the vaginal packing pulled out the morning after the surgery. It been months and I'm doing well. I still have my ovaries in place so I still have cramping every month but its no where as bad as it was. Another thing some people don't discuss is the sex after. My husband & I have no problems. It feels the same he says, but I was very scared to tango. My Dr. did advise us to be gentle & take our time after the 6 weeks. I still have those days that I don't want to be touched & I'm working on that but at the same time he's been very understanding. The first few weeks after coming home I was very sore, but I did take pain meds & it got better! I had to comment on the Sex..For us its just a great as before. I haven't really seen a big change. My husband seem very happy with the outcome. I was very scared after the 6 weeks. My Dr. talked to us he told us to make sure I'm comfortable with it. I went to my post op appt & my Dr. did tell me I had Adenmyosis which explained the bad cramping. He sent everything off to lab after the surgery. Everything has been going good even though I still have cramps ever now & then but I'm healing well. I hope this helps someone

Re: Life After Hysterectomy

It's so good of you to share that! The part about taking it slow and being ready is so true... though my doctor in his laid back way opted to say "Nothing crazy like swinging from the chandeliers."

May you continue to heal well!
