Anyone have hysterectomy during c-section??

If you do a search for the username "floppsy" in the journals, she went through much the same sort of delivery.

I went through a catastrophic delivery myself, thanks to eclampsia, and completely understand trying to live with the memories of a time that should have been happy. All I can say is that it's taken time (mky DD is nearly 10 now), and still, every birthday, I do remember .

I hope your recovery goes smoothly. Remember that the post-partum period is enough of a roller-coaster ride in and of itself, and that a hyst is MUCH more surgery than a c-section (lots more internal sutures, and during a time when your body is still changed from the pregnancy). Now is a time to be kind to yourself -- and get ALL the help that you can! Definitely a time to rely on friends, and sometimes the "kindness of strangers."

Big healing s to you. The time will come, eventually, when you remember this birth with the memory of pain -- but not with the pain itself (if that makes any sense...)

Your Not Alone

My last birth was a c-section which lead to a life or death. I had to have a blood transfusion, my uterus removed and part of my cervix back in 2003. Since then things have not been the same for me. I have had some strange things going on with my body like feeling tired alot, angery, moody, forgetfulness, panic attacks, so on and so on its like one minute I'm normal and the next minute im somebody else. I guestioned my doctor about it and blood tests was done to check the hormone balance and the results was fine all I know theres something going on, I never had problems like this before until now after the surgery. Now I'm trying to find out what causing it and how to stop it.

Anyone have hysterectomy during c-section??

Marlyn11, did your dr talk to you about post-traumatic stress syndrome? My dr told me that several months down the road I may be going along fine and all the sudden everything that I went through would seem to hit me at once.

Sorry to hear you are still going through all this!!!

Anyone have hysterectomy during c-section??

While I have not had an emergency hyster myself, I have assisted in performing them as an RN in the operating room. My heart went out to the women I've taken care of for this particular surgery. I (and the rest of the surgical team) feel that we would do anything to NOT have to do the hyster, but if not, the mother wouldn't live! I'm sure coping with this surgery in the midst of having a baby isn't easy....... Please know there is support for you........
