davinci hysterectomy set for November 19th 2015 - Any sisters with issues? Recovery time? Returning to work?

Surgery is finally set for November 19th. Has any "sister" out there had issues with it? What about recovery time and returning to work?

I did not have this type of surgery, so I cannot answer your question. We do have numerous ladies on this site who did have this surgery. Hopefully one of them will see this post and respond.

Hi! I had RAVH/BSO in august. My recovery went very well with no real issues. I took a full 6 week leave. And I'm glad I did. Realistically, I might have been able to go back after 4 weeks, but I didn't want to risk complications. Even though it is minimally invasive, there is still a considerable amount of trauma to the pelvic region, which includes swelling and inflammation.
This is still major surgery and I think a lot of younger ladies do too much to soon. I'm 61. That said this method of hysterectomy is technically the best, in the hand's of a skilled surgeon. There is very little blood loss and amazingly very little pain. My surgeon injected a long acting lidocaine (Exparel) in my abdomen, and I had no incisional pain at all. He also tried to press out most of the gas that is used to inflate the abdomen, and I had no gas pains. I did have perineal sutures, like an episiotomy, and that caused some discomfort. Also I had vaginal and some bowel discomfort, all of which was gone by 6 weeks. I only took narcotic for one day post op and then ibuprofen religiously for 3 weeks. This is amazing technology and I am in awe of how well my recovery went. Best of luck to you, the waiting and anticipation is the worst part!
