No 2 week post op hysterectomy follow up, that weird?

I keep seeing everyone seems to have a 2 week follow up, my gyno didn't set a 2 week follow up only a 4 week follow up. I did have complications so I was surprised by that. Has anyone else's gyno not done a 2 week follow up?

I don't have a follow up until I'm six weeks.

no two week follow-up for me. I was 5 weeks. I think it varies from surgery to surgery and doctor to doctor.

Re: No 2 week post op hysterectomy follow up, that weird?

It varies from doctor to doctor. Mine saw me at 4 weeks and then didn't want to see me again. I wonder if travel distance may be a factor in some cases? I had a two-hour bus ride to get to my surgery city. (A friend drove me home in her pick-up four days later.) It would have been difficult/impossible to manage the trip there and back at two weeks, but at four weeks it was no problem.

Re: No 2 week post op hysterectomy follow up, that weird?

I didn't have my first appointment until 6 weeks post-op and was instructed to call prior if there were any problems. Which, fortunately, there really were none out of the ordinary.

Re: No 2 week post op hysterectomy follow up, that weird?

My doctor told me to schedule a six week check up. Then he also told me to call the office if I felt like returning to work before the six week check up. I am returning to work tonight (I am a third shift worker) after three weeks off since surgery. I didn't even need to go in for an actual check up. The doctor just wrote out what the restrictions would be for three weeks post op and said I could pick up the release slip.

I think it really depends on the type of procedure that has been done and the preferences of the doctor. I have had no issues and no concerns. If I would have, I would have insisted on an appointment. And I wouldn't have asked for a release to return to work. (the doctor had said he would release me at two weeks if I felt like it.)

Re: No 2 week post op hysterectomy follow up, that weird?

Thanks all, I know I am definitely not ready to return to go back to work. I went to my in laws yesterday for barely 4 hours, my hubby drove and I just sat on the couch or the table and I came home exhausted. Obviously complications slowed my recovery, and I have spoken to my nurse and she said it's all normal just takes time!

I had a 2 week and it was really not even necessary. My Dr did not and said he would not even examine me. He said nothing on the vagina not even for an exam. So really just a waste of time. His nurse could have just given me a call to see how I was.
