DH support

I am very lucky to not only have a DH that supports me but also a boarder who would do anything for me. I expect to have no problem being a princess !
However some people think I am a bit off..... When I had my D & C he just dropped me at the door of the hospital and I was really ok with it. I think it is just the way our family does things. I even spent 13 hours in emergency one night having a transfusion and took no one with me. I guess I just figured I am being taken care of and another person sitting around or wandering the halls is too much. We have agreed that I am ok with the same the day of my surgery. He of course offered to do more but I guess I feel in more control just going through the preop without thinking about making small talk with him. Maybe I also fear I would shed some tears if he were there... Does anyone else feel this way or will you have a supportive person until they call your name?
Thanks
Donna

Nope.. not me.. want my dh there holding my hand like I'm a 2 year old personally. I applaude your independence though, that says a lot for your strength and character! Good luck and best wishes!

Hi!
I had told my dh he could work the morning of my surgery if he wanted but was I ever glad he refused and was with me. I was so scared I actually managed to put on the gown wrong. It had snaps on the sleeves and I somehow managed to put my arms through at the wrong places. I didn't notice it. The pre op nurse was very good about all this but I felt like an idiot.
I was glad dh was there and then he got to talk with the doctors after the proceedure and that was good because I didn't see a doctor until the next morning.
That was just my experience, but then again I found out I am pretty whimpy when it comes to hospitals.

My DH told me he was going to get permission from my Dr. to watch the surgery from the observation area, online. I know he was kidding, but I told him I could have a friend take me and he can stay home. He will be there, but he teases too much and doesn't know when to stop. UGH!

My DH has to work I wish he was there but my Mom will be. In fact he has not been much help through any of this. I go in on Monday and he is playing golf right now.
