8 weeks post op - tired

Hi ladies,

I am almost 8 weeks SAH post op and started back to work after 6 weeks (last week), half days and this week is supposed to be for 6 hours. Today is my second day at 6 hours and had to leave after 3. I felt really tired, a bit light headed and emotional. When I told my boss I was leaving i cried, blamed it on hormones! I took a rest in our first aid room hoping that would help, but I become more anxious. Went home and slept. I've been doing well with pain but inside belly feels "heavy". Was hoping to hear some experiences people have had around the 8 week mark, just wondering if I am used to not working (am I lazy) or is this fatigue because of the surgery and do I need to do more exercise to build up stamina.
Thank you

Re: 8 weeks post op - tired

You are not lazy and you had major surgery.
I had my 6 week appt and I told my dr that I was exhausted at the end of the day. I am working 20 hrs a week. She told me that my body is healing well but reminded me that I had major surgery even though it was laproscopic. She did not release me to work full time for another 2 weeks and not to lift more than 15lbs.
Take care of youself and relax on the weekends.

Re: 8 weeks post op - tired

I'm at 9 weeks and still get tired at the end of the day. Some days more than others depending on my activity level. I have slowly increases my exercise over the past month and think that's helped. I just keep plugging along even though I get frustrated. Some of us take longer to heal. Take care of yourself and listen to your body. Only you know when you need to rest.
