Vaginal Hysterectomy. . .reaction to betadine & very bad back pain

Hi

Just wanted to thank everyone for this informative and wonderful site.

I have two questions

I noticed (had to get DH to get the mirror out) that I had two small "sores", flat, yellow inside my labia about the size of half a penny. I called the surgeon/gyno (who is wonderful) and she said that it is probably a reaction to the betadine and to use diaper cream on it. Anyone else with that problem?

My other concern is my back. I came out of surgery with flying colours, as if nothing had happened. Two hours later, my sacro iliac had flared up so badly that I was actually crying and it made me throw up (it felt like kidney stone pain, originating from the sacro iliac extending around the front of my pelvis. It is still very bad, I know we are supposed to be on bed/couch rest, with the occasional walk. I am dying here though. (I have used magic bags, ice packs,) with percocet for the hysterectomy pain, and toradol, it doesn't touch the back pain, any idea of stretches that I could safely do? I didn't want to bother the doctor with another question again, I might phone my GP tomorrow. The Gyno thought it was probably the position I was in during surgery.

Then I did a massive booboo, I thought that I was supposed to go up the stairs backwards, and then fell squarely on my bum. Not to bad but enough to shock the heck out of me.

I mistook taking stairs backwards for taking stairs backwards up as well as down. Duh.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Puffletwookie

I'm sorry your back is so painful. Please don't hesitate to contact your doctor with any questions ~ especially being so early post-op.

I don't know whether betadine reactions are common or not, but we have had ladies here who've experienced problems. If you try a Google Search of HysterSisters (towards the top right of every page) you'll find a number of threads to read through. Here's a link to one to start you off: https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/sho...light=betadine.

Sending all good wishes for a smooth recovery ~ take care!

Thanks for your comment. It is good that there was a link there, although my symptoms are a tad different, it eased my mind. Thanks a bunch.
