Upcoming hysterectomy 4/15: Bedridden with cabin fever

hello Ladies!

A lot of you know what has been going on with me and I can't thank you enough for your unwavering support that has gotten me through some pretty dark times. I've had surgery cancellations, had to find another doctor, colonoscopy, bloodwork on top of bloodwork, cultures, ultrasounds, all in the last 3 weeks! It's looking like I DON'T have cancer, most likely "pre-cancerous" so things are better in that area!!!!
I've been stuck in bed for 2 months now (staying with family so they can help me) and I have cabin fever. I get out here and there but for short amounts of time because the pain becomes too much to walk. Does anyone have any suggestions on things I can do for the next week and half while I'm stuck here? I think I've watched everything on Netflix, I make kandi (raver bracelets) and I've colored a little but it's hard for me to keep my attention on things for too long. I also fall asleep easily on all of these pain meds. 11 more days to go!

Thank goodness there's no cancer!!!!

I've been homebound for 7 weeks. I signed up for Netflix and Hula Plus via Apple tv. Love it all. I've binged watched seasons there and on hbo and showtime. I've joutnaled, trued to read but due to fatigue I typically fall asleep. Honestly, I've had quiet time to try to figure out how to go from a workaholic to a person that has a happy balanced life. Started watching TED talks ... love Dr. Brene Brown.

I'm open to any suggestions too.

Be well!

Re: Bedridden with cabin fever

If you are not too med foggy, maybe try to learn a language to exercise your mind. Ever interested in fingerspelling? You can learn to read it online. If you're foggy it might be too much but it's a switch from movies, engrossing, and it really doesn't matter that you likely will only learn a bit. It's the attention and focus that counts. Of course I've always wanted to learn languages, if you have other interests then finding a way to research them or learn some other fun thing might suit you better.

Re: Bedridden with cabin fever

That is great news! One struggle off your plate. You've been through enough. Have you ever tried Soduko? There's always word searches or crosswords. Playing solitaire with cards. Games on handheld devices. Try knitting or crocheting or making one if the finger scarves. I have per recorded shows I never get to watch so will catch up when I'm post op. Try painting. That's all I can think of right now. Hopefully the time pass quickly for you.

Re: Upcoming hysterectomy 4/15: Bedridden with cabin fever

I recommend bird watching. All you need is an identification book, and maybe binoculars. It's so much fun this time of year because birds are building nests and you can find the nests by watching the birds fly - they will lead you right to their nest! I do this from my living room. I've seen all kinds of interesting birds. But you could also sit in the yard, or sit in a park; almost anywhere you are, you can find birds to watch.
