how long was your hospital stay?
I had my surgery on a Friday am and was released on Sunday. I also had a morphine drip on that Friday night, but went from that to a combination of vicodin and motrin. The doctor had expected me to need to stay longer, but I was up on my feet and walking and wanted to leave so she let me go home Sunday and I was very happy.

how long was your hospital stay?
I was in for 3 days. As soon as I passed their milestones (passing gas, eating food) they wanted to release me so I "didn't catch a Super Germ". I had an epidural for the surgery and 2 days after. It was great because it didn't make me groggy at all but it effected my heart rate & blood pressure so they took me off of it and gave me vicadine (sp?). I was only on it a day and then switched to Extra Strength Tylenol, 2 tablets, every 6 hours. I had no pain and wasn't stoned like I was on vicadine, which I hated.

how long was your hospital stay?
I am in the Army and had a TAH on Wednesday, 2 November. Surgery was done about noon. I had a morphine pump until my IV went bad about noon Thursday. It gave me a terrible migraine. After receiving a shot of Imitrex, I was OK and went home Friday morning with Percocet.

how long was your hospital stay?
WOW! I cannot believe the differences in hosptial stays! I had the total works done and was admitted 1 day before surgery (October 4) to be "emptied" and IV'd massive amounts of antibiotics - surgery was supposed to be 1 hr long - took 2 1/2 (adhesions everywhere - glue like - stuck to everything) I was not walking until day 3 and did not get out of the hospital until day 10 - the ride home was horrible - I don't know if I feel like a wimp or if you guys are all super human. I felt awful for the first week after being home (didn't even get out ot bed). I am so sad that so many of you (in the US especially) have to leave so quickly.
I live in New Brunswick, Canada and you leave only when the specialist says you can. Also, the physician has say in where you stay. My doctor knew I was sad about giving up the chance to become a mom (I have 3 older adopted children I love with all of my heart but will never be able to become pregnant) so instead of putting me in a ward ( my insurance doesn't cover semi or private rooms), he kept me in semi-private mostly without another patient (unless they were post op patients like me without just becoming a Mom)
I wish you all well and I am so sad the option to stay longer wasn't there for many of you. I know it's not the Hilton, but sometimes you don't need to see the laundry piling up - if you know what I mean.
Stay strong

how long was your hospital stay?
Dear T,
I also had the surgery on tues pm and went home thurs at 7am. In my case, however, I was SO grateful to get out of that hospital. I was on the morphine pump from the time of the surgery on tues until the next morning at 6am (my gyn/onc does very early rounds!). After that they gave me percocet but in very low dose. The dr also allowed an injectible NSAID (pills are hard for me) but I had trouble getting one of the nurses to bring it to me. I finally had to ask for the charge nurse.

how long was your hospital stay?
Hi, in my area here in the UK the expected time for your hospital stay is 5 to 7 days, I was in for 4 days and released on the 5th morning for good behavour yeah!! I had a TAH/BSO, I was very sick 8 hours after surgery which lasted for a good two days and had a catheter and drain and drip and morphine all attached to me so no way could I go home before 3 days anway, I am amazed that you all go home so early in the USA. Hope you are doing well now, best wishes.

how long was your hospital stay?
I had my TAH/BSO in the 15th. My Gyn is UBERconservative and told me to expect at least 3-4 days. Some of my nurses even joked with me about how strict he is about restrictions and when his patients can do what, but they all agreed that he is a great doctor. Surgery was at 12pm, Was out by 2:00 and in a room by 3:00. First night was MISERABLE, I couldn't get my pain under control at all with the morphine pump. My whole family came in to see me, including my kids, and my 8 yo was in tears seeing mommy miserable. They finally got a prescription for an injectable NSAID and within an hour I felt like a whoe new person. Got the catherter out the next morning, after much whining from me, and was up and walking. Showered on wednesday and was eating regular meals by dinner time. GOt the pump out, but they left the IV in so I could continure receiving the NSAIDs. I think that did more for my pain than morphine ever did. My doc had me do a bowel prep for surgery and I think it was still working a bit, because I had no problems with a BM. Was out of the hospital by 11am thursday morning. As much as they took care of me in there (my nurses were incredible, I had one CNA who became like your favorite auntie. She'd cheer me on as I hobbled down the hall)I was so ready to be home with my feet up on my own sofa.
