TAH: # dats til TAH and my doc postpones my pre admit appt!!!

I am going in for my TAH THIS Fri. and had a appointment for today to discuss EVERYTHING with my doc.. At the last minute his office called and put it off til Thursday at 3:30 ( the day before my surgery!!) My question is this.. Is there anything I need to do in the 3 days before surgery to prepare ( like stool softeneres ect) that I need to know before 15 hours til surgery? should I shave ?not eat certain things? any advice would be appreciated Thanks!!! Jenny

With the pre-op being postponed I would strongly suggest that you call and check to see if there is any preparation you need to do since the pre-op is now the day before surgery.

As many have said do not do bowel prep unless told to.

I know this is frustrating for you

You should be able to make a phone call to your Dr and ask about things like medications. Are you on any that should be stopped before surgery? Are you on any supplements that should be stopped. You should check with Drs office to find out if you are going to have a bowel prep. You don’t want to have to go out after your Drs appointment looking for whatever one your Dr wants. Hopefully you will be one of the lucky ones and won’t have one. I did not start stool softeners until I got home from the hospital but you could ask the Dr.

Everything will come together for you. You will be able to ask your Dr all your questions on Thursday. Good luck with your surgery and recovery.
