Feeling Blue

I returned to work yesterday (4 weeks out only). I am having such a bad time of it. I worked a full 8.5 hours. When I got home my tummy and "mini-tummy" were swelled beyond belief. I took some pain meds and then couldn't sleep! I'm dead woman walking.
Trying to get ahold of doc to see if I can just work three days a week....
My Golden Retreiver died on Saturday. She was almost 11-years-old. Broke my heart. Just feeling blue. Anyone else want to vent?
Sometimes I wonder if this was all worth it?

Hi

Hi Goldensam,
I know exactly how you feel. I haven't gone back to work yet but I have had the blues. It took me till mid morning to get dressed and I have no energy. I keep hopeing things will improve. Have have good days and bad days and today is a bad day. I just hope by next monday when I go back to work I will feel much better.
The most I can tell you is to hang in there and know you are not alone.

Feeling Blue

Goldensam, I'm sorry to hear about your loss. No wonder you are feeling blue! I applaud you for returning to work after 4 weeks!! When I was 4 weeks post-op, I was in such discomfort there was no way I could have gone back. Just by showing up and putting in the hours you did, what an accomplishment!

Definitely try to get the doctor to authorize reduced hours or days! There's a lot of emphasis in this website on taking your time and easing back into your life because we have only one opportunity to heal properly. That and doctor's orders are the reasons I'm still home - tomorrow is 7 weeks for me - yeah! I'm scheduled to return to work 8/15.

A couple of weeks ago, I wondered if the surgery was worth it. Today, I feel so much better that I have no doubt that it was the right thing to do. Give yourself some time. We are here for you! Mia

Me too

I'm almost three weeks post op and last week I felt much better. If you asked me then, I would have said I'm just about ready to go back to work. Yesterday (Monday) was definitely a "couch day" but today I'm feeling better. Was definitely "blue" yesterday. I guess that's the way it will go for a while. What do you think???

Feeling Blue

Goldensam. I too had to return at 4 weeks. It's tough and I cried the day before returning because I wanted more time off. I was also exhausted after the first day. I didn't think I could drag myself off to work the next day, but since I had no choice, I drug myself in the rest of the week, and by the following week, I was feeling better. This is my 4th week back at work and I'm feeling MUCH better.

So sorry about the loss of your beloved doggie. I am a huge dog lover, and I can't imagine the loss of a pet coupled with the emotional roller coaster of a hyst.

Just rest whenever you can, and take strength from the fact that you're not alone. Hang in there sister. Brighter days are ahead. Just think. . .NO MORE PERIODS!!!!! EVER!!! Just that fact definately makes it worth it.

Goldensam, I am so sorry to hear about your dog. I have a golden retriever too--she's 9 years old. It would break my heart to lose her.

I hope you can get a lot of rest and work reduced hours. I had a TVH 3 weeks ago, and am planning to take a few more weeks. I think I could go back if I had to, but would like to rest as much as possible.

Best wishes and

Feeling Blue

Goldensam,
First I want to say I am so sorry about your loss. You asked if anyone else wanted to vent well here goes.
I am 14 weeks post-op and I have been back at work since June 22nd. I work 12 1/2 hour shifts and they absolutely do me in. I normally love my job but for some reason since I had my TAH I could careless if I work or not. I don't know what's up with that.

The last 2 weeks if things could go wrong they have. A week ago yesterday my DD's Sheltie died and the next day my DS's Mountain Feist was dead. Seems to be a very cruel person around here poisoning animals and I pity them if I find out WHO they are after the pain they have put my kids through. :burning:

My fiance' is an over the road truck driver and it seems when he leaves is when everything goes wrong. He is suppose to be home every weekend but they decided this time not to give him a load to where he could come home. So yeah I have had a pretty blue week so I know how you feel and it definitely sounds like you could use a big .
