Lupron anyone?

I had the Lupron for endo and fibroids. I received my injections at my Dr's office, so I can't tell you about that part. I can tell you that you will go into "Medical Menopause". I had the hot flashes and night sweats. Your Dr. may be able to prescribe something to help with the side effects. It might be worth asking about!

Hope things go well for you!

Lupron anyone?

I had to inject myself with Lupron due to heavy bleeding with severe anemia. I was like you and couldn't imagine giving myself a shot and then to be told to give it to myself in my stomach I just didn't think I could. But, like so many things we women do, when it has to be done you just do it. It really wasn't that bad. Only once in awhile did it hurt a little and that was because I didn't get the needle straight in. I was glad when it was over but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Not having periods made it all worth it!! Good luck!

Lupron anyone?

I only had one injection of lupron and it definitely helped shrink my fibroids so I'm glad I did it. I didn't have any major side effects, and since I almost always have side effects (from other drugs), I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't have to inject myself though and I can understand that you might not want to. Have you asked your doctor if they can do it? If you are really scared of needles, then that might be the way to go. If not, I'm sure you can do it if you have to. Because my brother is diabetic, I had to practice injections on an orange, just in case. Sounds silly, but it helped.
Good luck with everything.

Lupron anyone?

I had Lupron shots but mine were in my back side(hip area) I went into medical menopause too and had all the side affects that were mentioned plus crying spells and slight depression. I know that it helps a lot of women but it didn't do anything to shrink my tumors at all. Oh well! It's over now and I am over 10 months later doing so much better. I would do it all over again if I had too, (of course I am glad I don't) I would diffinitly ask your dr. if you have to give the shot to yourself and why!

Lupron anyone?

I did two courses of Lupron for my endo before my TAH. Whenever anyone asks about how I faired on it, I always tell them that it's the devil's drug. My hot flashes were terrible, I had insominia and I got very depressed during the time I was on it. I took estrogen to try to relieve the symptoms but it didn't help. I am almost three weeks post op from my TAH and the hot flashes I've been experiencing have been so much less intense than when I was on Lupron. I hope your reaction to it is not as severe! Good luck

Lupron anyone?

I had two lupron shots last year before my ablation. Fortunately the nurse gave me the shots. The side effects were terrible for me. Insominia, and mood swings, depression. My DH kept telling me he wanted his wife back. I was going to get a third shot but pleaded with my Dr. to skip the last one, which he did. I hope you have better luck than I did!

Lupron anyone?

I had one Lupron injection 20 days B4 my SAH to shring fibroids and help to reduce bleeding during surgery. It was ordered from and deliverd to my Doc's office. It was injected into my right hip/buttcheak. The only thing I noticed those 20 days was dry skin, but I don't know if that's a side effect or not. Lupron is still in my system 4 days post op now and still have not had any side effects. I will post if/when I do. My doc said she will give me an estrogen injection if my ovaries haven't woken up when they should. BTW she said that even the 20 days the Lupron had to work really helped shrink those aliens! Good luck to you and hope this helps.

Lupron anyone?

Wow! I am feeling really lucky that I didn't have such severe side effects. I had to give myself 10 injections- one each day in my stomach because that was the only place I had enough fat to stick into!! Plus, giving them to myself there were some places I wouldn't have been able to reach. I think I gave them to myself so I wouldn't have to come to the Dr. everyday although it was only 15minutes away. But coming in never really seemed to be an option. No one asked if I would rather come in and have a nurse do it. The nurse taught me how to do it in about 10 minutes and then sent me on my way!! Anyway... I survived without many side effects except for hot flashes and night sweats. It was worth it--no periods!
