Things I thought were funny pre-op:
The amazing shifts in courage and fear on that emotional roller coaster. Wanting surgery badly one day, then wondering if I should cancel it the next.
My own incredibly stress-induced flightiness. I'm a verbal person (writer), and I would forget the most commonplace words. Embarrassing, but worth a giggle.
My amazing Hystersisters. Some of the ladies here are a stitch. So to speak. One related a story about a well-meaning but possibly undereducated young woman who, upon being told that someone had had a hyst, said, "Oh, yeah, my dad had one of those...."
Things I think are funny post-op:
Getting excited about having PMS because of what will NOT be following!
Hearing about my Hystersisters' comebacks when someone says something ignorant or stupid about their hysts.
The discussions women here have had about what to do with those unused sanitary products. My favorite? Attaching maxi-pads to the bottoms of your feet to sweep the floor before your doc has released you to use a broom.
