I'm So Bored....please Help!

I'm 17 days post-op. I've been out of the house a few times, but mostly taking it easy. I've knitted four scarves, read five books, surfed for hours on end, solved crossword puzzles, and watched about a zillion movies. I just started another scarf and another book. I'm bored, but I don't want to wish away the next four weeks 'til I go back to work. I want to enjoy my time off work. Any suggestions regarding how I can spend my time? How is everyone else passing the hours?

I'm So Bored....please Help!

I can relate!

Some of the things I've done to pass the time:
Jigsaw puzzles, throwing the dog her toys with my "grabber stick", making the dog insane with a laser pointer on the ceiling, fooling around with water color paints on a small sketch pad, seeing how fast I can make it to the mailbox at the end of the driveway and back, walking around the front yard in circles in hopes of freaking out the neighbors, playing games on-line, watching the birds at the feeders outside and trying to identify them, watching rented DVD's, playing poker on one of those little electronic hand-held games (I'd have to sell the house to pay what I owe), making pudding on the stove, banging my head in frustration repeatedly against the side of the pull-out sofa where I've been camped out since coming home from the Castle.

It's not forever, but sometimes it sure seems like it is, doesn't it?

I'd suggest taking a walk every day and gradually increasing. Hopefully, your weather is getting warmer. Also, go somewhere every day. I went out somewhere every day from Day 3 on; if not, I would have been nuts. Meet a friend for lunch. As long as you don't overdo and get rest, you can do things. It makes the time off alot more
enjoyable. Cathy

Your doing the right thing taking it easy. I am 13 days out and have done some stupids things (vacuuming, shopping, cleaning, etc) and I have paid for it. I am miserable with pelvic pain. Just know there's a light at the end of this dark tunnel. I have decided I have to rest in order to heal. There's already enough pain to deal with, it's crazy to make it worse. Good luck! I hope things get better.

I'm So Bored....please Help!

I think Boredom is our worst enemy. My attention span lately is about 2 seconds. LOL I read for a while, I play on the computer, I even had the boys put their gamecube in the living room. I cant hang man. I started cooking to relieve some of the boredom. To be honest, I dont normally like to cook but have found it's relaxing for me. I do only as much as my body lets me. I use the slow cooker alot. My children help me alot around the house when I harp on them some, they are 14 and 12 and old enough to be do it without being told.

They know that Im down for a while and right now they are trying to see what they can get away with. It's their spring break so I have some leverage They do good for me and Ill drive them places.
They are understanding that phrase, you do for me, ill do for you! it works wonderful!

I'm So Bored....please Help!

I was so bored and couldn't stand another minute of television that I decided to sell some of my clothes that I haven't worn in awhile on E-Bay. It truly passes the time and before you know it, it's dinner time. Also, it brings in revenue which isn't a bad thing, unless you start looking at what's for sale on E-Bay. Now that can be dangerous!

I'm So Bored....please Help!

I borrowed the entire 6 years of Sex and the City! I am looking at the walls in my hallway that need to be painted (we did some remodeling last fall and have not finished) and wishing I could do it. I have been to the post office, the grocery store (I had the girl bag almost everything separately and the cart guy push my full cart up the hill to my car-(note -very humbling), and out to dinner tonite at my friends house but I was folding in half by dessert! I am starting to figure out that I may survive this but boy is it a long haul! My college age son, in all his words of wisdom, said today "Mom- try to enjoy this. When will ever in your life have time to watch stupid tv shows and kick back? I am trying.......
