No feeling to uninate.

Hi I am a week post op Had a Laproscopy Hysterectomy. Overies left, Uterus and tubes gone supercervical also. I had no pain after surgery just sorness. I have no indication that i have to pee. The only resaon I go into the bathroom is because I know I have just drank a bunch of water. When I get there my bladder is totally full. Is this normal or is there something wrong? Other then that I feel fine except for the night sweats and I am sure that is normal and I am not that worried about it. But boy my bladder is full. Is this normal?

Re: No feeling to uninate.

For a little while, especially during the first couple weeks, I had that feeling quite often (other times I just felt like I had to go often, but I didn't have to). The only way I knew for sure I had to go was an increase in pressure/pain. By three to four weeks, I started to be able to tell I needed to go. I read answers to posts by some wise sisters who explained that the whole pelvic area is traumatized by the surgery, and that includes the bladder. Everything has to adjust to the new 'normal'. Hope this helps!

Re: Can't feel the urge to urinate

This seems to be normal. I am three weeks post op today and have the same problem although it seems to getting a little bit better. Like you, I would just take myself to the bathroom to see if I needed to pee or not. After a while, I started to notice a heavy feeling in my abdomen that signals I need to go. I'd love to really know whether or not I have to pee.

I have read that other sisters have had this same problem and that it does eventually resolve itself.

Re: Can't feel the urge to urinate

The bladder can be very "angry" after this surgery. Mine certainly was. Cutting out caffeine and going every hour whether I felt or not really helped my bladder to spasm and hurt less. It may take a moment for all the feeling to cone back so in the meantime be kind to your bladder. It's been through a lot.

Re: Can't feel the urge to urinate

Like the ladies ahead of me said, this is normal. It took about 2 months for me to get the urge back. In the meantime, I made sure that I scheduled my bathroom trips so my tummy wouldn't hurt when I needed to go.
