Activity Level??

OK ladies looking for a little advice here. I had my LSH on 4/30
and I am not sure what I am suppose to be doing at this point. What should my activity level be. I have tried making dinner and all, but I start bleeding alot. I don't want to overdo it, but I think I may not be doing enough. I think I will be cleared to go to work next week so I feel like I should really be doing more this week.
Please let me know what activities you all are really doing to pass the days.

Thanks!

Activity Level??

Here is what my Dr. said:
**No stairs for 2 weeks (once or twice up and down okay, but go easy)
**No lifting anything over 5# for 3 weeks.
**Walking is fine as long as your not walking several blocks. Can be incresed after 2 weeks, but only as comfortable.
**Sex after 3 weeks, but go slow.
**No housework for 2 weeks and increase slowly.

Now, how much bleeding is a lot? Are you soaking a pad in 2 hours? Pain, Fever?

Activity Level??

Being from Ontario, Canada, my Dr. told me the following:

-no housework at all (especially vacuuming and laundry)
-no lifting of any kind for atleast 3 weeks
-off work for 6 weeks
-listen to your body and only do up to what you are able to do. If you experience pain, then you had overdone it. Try not to go to that boundry.
-Sex after 6 weeks with only the Dr.'s permission

Those are the basics that my Dr. had told me. It is very difficult to relax when you are a busy person. But please, you need to rest your body after this major surgery. Regarding the bleeding, if you had to use a pad, I would call the Dr. within 24 hours for an appointment for a check up. I had a simular incident two weeks ago, but did not go through a pad. After the check up, he told me that I over did it.

Best of Rest.

Activity Level??

It is hard to figure out, isn't it?
My activity today has been to make coffee and then sit out on the patio reading the paper. I'm considering a brief driving errand this afternoon, but don't know if I'm up for it.
And then on another thread, a woman who had her surgery done around the same time as mine is going hiking, shopping for groceries, doing housework.

I see dog hair on the carpet, and I wait for someone to come home and vaccuum for me. I'm sure I'd pull something if I tried to do it.

Activity Level??

I had my LSH on April 6th and my recovery was longer than expected.
At 2 weeks I was released to drive, and I did but I was not comfortable. I went up my street and back...I went to my sons baseball game at 3 weeks out and did nothing all day so I would be well enough to go and turns out I wasn't. My back hurt so bad I had to go to my car and recline the seat to get relief.
I was cleared for sex at 2 weeks also, but no way..my cervix was still to tender, we waited until a little passed 3 weeks to try, no problems, no bleeding.
Today I am 5 weeks out and I have been back to work for a full 40 hour week...Monday was a little rough but every other day has been great..even got up to 2 miles on my treadmill on Wednesday.
I did become disappointed at 2-3 weeks into recovery that I was not 'up to par' like I thought I should be. I took it easy for the remaining time I was off of work and I am thrilled with my results. Everyone is different and we all heal at different speeds. Good luck!

Activity Level??

A big thank you to all who took the time to answer. I think what was confusing was the diferences in what people are capable of. I do bleed thru the pads, but had alot of trouble with bleeding in recovery too. The hospital said as long as it is not clots or dark in color don't call. So unlike some people I will do as little as possible until I go in to the dr.'s next week.
Thanks for the support

It's still early in your recovery at 11 days post-op. You may like to read through our Post-Op Checkpoints Weeks 1-2 which will give you alot of very useful information.

Recovery does vary, obviously, depending on the person and also the surgery. If the bleeding increases, or there's anything you're worried about, please don't hesitate to contact your doctor.

Take good care!
