Help! Is this normal?

I started coughing and had a really bad burning feeling. It was about an inch from one of my incision sites, and felt like someone took a piece of red hot metal and laid it on my skin. Only it was just under my skin that burned. When I stopped coughing the burning feeling went away slowly. Has anyone else had this? Is it normal? What is it?
Thanks,
Stacie

Re: Help! Is this normal?

Yep! It's almost like nerve pain it seems like. Glad it went away but don't be surprised when it hits you out of nowhere during recovery.

Re: Help! Is this normal?

Yeah, that's what 75% of my pain is - such a horrible feeling The other 25% is the knife cutting.

Re: Help! Is this normal?

Thanks! It hit when coughing but I had also just showered, changed the dressing on my drain, and emptied my drain. So I had been active at the time it happened. I was worried maybe I did something wrong when I changed the dressing, but maybe I just overdid it.

Re: Help! Is this normal?

I don't have that problem coughing but every now and then if I sneeze and don't brace myself I get this burning stabbing pains that feels like my muscles are tightening up and being squeezed either where my right ovary was at or down in the pelvic floor area. When this happens I double over and have to rub my stomach out..

Re: Help! Is this normal?

After my surgery, my coughing would have me clutching my stomach, and I would try my best to only cough lightly. The sneeze was the absolute worst. But now, their more of an annoyance, they only hurt just a little. Hang in there, it will get better.

Help! Is this normal?

I was drinking water through a straw when it went down the wrong way. I was so afraid... I tried bracing myself and trying not to choke.... It was the worse. Well afterwards I did have the same burning, raw tingling nerve sensations afterwards, and then later realized the normal barely light pink drainage was darker. After a few days I had no troubles. This was during my 2nd week post op. I'm in 4 th week and have had no issues.

Re: Help! Is this normal?

When I coughed as well, I had a burning sensation on the left side of my incision. After a few minutes the pain went away.
