Emotional - could it be due to the hysterectomy

I am more emotional now than I was before my hysterectomy. I still have both of my ovaries. So could it be because my ovaries are working overtime? I am confused.

Re: Emotional - could it be due to the hysterectomy

Thus surgery is very taxing on the body and can really reek havoc on the emotions for some. Ovaries or not. I kept my ovaries but my emotions were all over the place. Things weren't right for me until wk 9. Even now I have my days if I get too tired.

Re: Emotional - could it be due to the hysterectomy

I am 4 weeks post op TVH and I had a major emotional roller coaster and I was told it was due to the shock of my ovaries not having uterus. If it is to bad talk to your doctor. I had to and got something for it.

Started crying when doc came into the room the morning after my surgery. I don't have my ovaries so she started me on an anti-depressant. May need to talk to your doctor if it gets too bad. Hope you feel better soon!

Re: Emotional - could it be due to the hysterectomy

I'm 10 days post-op and have been very emotional the past 5 or so days. I've been taking an anti-depressant for anxiety for about 7 years now. Hoping this will pass soon.

I've heard that sometimes our ovaries go to sleep, and it will take awhile for them to wake up after surgery. Also, just the whole shock to our system can cause us to be more emotional.

I have done pretty well, but I've been on 20 mg. of Prozac for several years. Don't hesitate to ask your doctor for a little something to help you through this time!
