LBSO abnrml PAP not taking utrs?
Hi I'm new here & glad I found this site. It's Labor Day weekend and I can't get in touch with the gyn who will be performing my l bso on Tuesday a.m. (9/8) During my medical clearance with my PCP, he raised a question that has got me in a tizzy! He asked why the GYN was not going to be taking out the uterus/cervix - as I had an abnormal PAP (LSIL) two months ago. I have a complex cyst on left ovary, pain on right side and am 4+ yrs post menapause. I can't believe I don't know this but does a complex cyst and an abnormal PAP (LSIL) have anything to do with one another? BTW - CA125 was normal and no other obvious concerns.
What do you think? ~J~

Does the GYN know about the abnormal PAP? Was it taken by the PCP or the GYN and if it was taken by the PCP, did he/she send the results to the GYN?
Wishing you all the best for your surgery.
Hugs,
Suzanne

Re: LBSO abnrml PAP not taking utrs?
Thanks for the response, and interest. The GYN actually did the PAP, bio and cryo just two mths ago called me at home directly with the results of the bio and just two weeks ago did a repeat PAP which was normal - this time. It was at this appointment she did the repeat sono and told me the cyst needed to come out. I honestly didn't have time to think about it so I didn't put two and two together. I really don't know wha to make of this. Is this a bad oversight on her part or what? Before I go under the knife on tuesday my dh and I will certainly talk to her about this. I've been going crazy with emotions all over the place. My kids go back to school on tuesday and i have so much to do but can't seem to function or focus on anything but this MONSTER of an issue. HELP.....~j~

The gyn may have thought that with the 2nd PAP being normal, the uterus and cervix could stay. She probably should have discussed this with you though. You and DH should have a discussion with her before the surgery tomorrow. It could be that the gyn believes that the uterus is healthy and will not remove a healthy organ.
Is she removing just one ovary or both?
I know it is very difficult, but try to take a few deep breaths and get all of your questions ready for the Dr.
Thinking about you and sending
