Insurance Denies?????

My date is set for 9/12 and today I get a phone call from the Dctr telling me that my insurance is denying the TH. My nerves are already working on me and I didnt need this to top it off. I called the Ins. and was told they wont speak to me directly that my Dctr needs to speak with their Dctr for a further discussion of my situation. Who knows better how I fee than me??? This is the first surgery I will ever have in 44 yrs and believe me Im taking it slow and very serious. I have waited since Winter to make sure that my symptoms would not lessen after a D&C. Could I live with this yes, but should I be totally sick for at least 3 days of every month, almost bedridden with nausea, heavy flow, clots, back pain, incontinence? My mother and sister did not go through the change until their early 50's so I decided that I cannot hold on that long. Any one else have a simular situation?

Insurance Denies?????

There was already a thread on this I believe yesterday. My insurance company denied my surgery 2 days before (due to a glitch from my dr. office). Have your doctor speak with the insurance company--you have plenty of time!! My doctor was at his grandfather's funeral when all of that happened, but at the very very last minute (12 hours before surgery), the insurance company approved the surgery. I did not give up and neither did the drs. office.

Good luck!!!

Insurance Denies?????

Another Tip: Make the dr.'s office recheck the ICD 9 code they used to precertify your surgery. It can have a big impact on the the insurance companies decision if it's a wrong one or they didn't use the right modifier.

Good Luck. I hope that you get this resolved in time to have your scheduled on the scheduled date.

HUGS,
Rhonda

Insurance Denies?????

Unfortunately, you're at the mercy of your doctor. Some of them will fight tooth and nail for you. Some can't be bothered. If you have a good doctor he'll get on the phone with the insurance company and plead your case. I'm curious though, you don't say what the cause of your heavy bleeding is. Do you have fibroids or something or just the heavy bleeding? Sometimes the insurance companies will deny if there is no cause like fibroids, endometriosis, etc.

Back on Schedule

Thank you for all of your support. Yesterday my Dctr was able to speak with my insurance company and verify some addtl info and now Im approved and still on for 9/12. One post asked what was the cause. I have multiple fibroids, not huge, the largest about 1". The back pain, heavy flow, clots and now nausea has just taken away the quality of too many days of my life each month. I certainly feel releived not to have to start appealing decisions though. Thanks again.
