Visit to the castle for mini pre-op

I had my "registration" visit at the hospital today-and I would like to say if it wasn't for this site-OMG! Let's just say I recieved a simple outline of what a hyst is (and I mean simple!) and TONS of blanks where the nurse was to fill out what I am and NOT to do. Needless to say they never filled it out, and basically all I was told was no asprin or asprin products until after surgery-now imagine if I followed the paper that says "no eating after______ on the day of your surgery."

It just scares me to know that they could be so lax - the only thing they told me was if I have any q to call the dr. Yeah well I got the sisters in my corner!

Thought I would just share...and say thank you!

Jeanne, was this your pre op at the hospital or just registration for insurance and such? If this was your preop I would definitely call your Dr. Every Dr has their own prep routine. Some want a bowel clean out and douche others need only for you to not eat after midnight. Any questions whatsoever I would call and let the Dr know how little information you received from the hospital. Good luck!!

I'm glad you got lots of much-need info from this site.

If you're not getting enough information from your medical team, please be assertive and call (or write if you have time -- sometimes they respond better in writing) with your questions. And don't quit until they answer!

Yeah you need to call on that cuz you should have much more info. I will be having my pre-addmission tommorrow with the hopital but my pre-op with the doctor was where I got all my info from for what to eat and drink and what I need to do prior to surgery. Good luck and call someone.
