Intimacy after TAH

I am 39 years old and will be having a TAH on June 13th, but will be leaving my ovaries. I am very concerned about my intimacy relationship with my husband post surgery. I don't want things to be "different" for us. Any thoughts?

I had my TAH last Sept and I can tell you that YES things are different....

They are BETTER!!!

No more pain, no more bleeding (for a week or more at a time), no more sheduling sex around my period or pre-period pain. Now we have the freedom to be spontaneous. Go on vacation, relax, be creative.

But things are different, I don't have a cervix and therefore I don't have cervical/uterine orgasms. But it still feels great.

Relax and have fun when you get the all clear. Take it slow and learn to have fun all over again.

Make sure you tell DH about any concerns you have. Use it as a tool to keep him from going too fast at the start. Start slow, & let things build.

First time was almost as scary to me as THE first time. Now, my biggest problem is making sure we have the KY gel. Life is good.

Things are soooo much better for us too. Better than they have ever been actually....the sex life is really good these days....

Since surgery my libido is greater and orgasm is same or better than before surgery. This is despite losing both ovaries at age 40! Only complaint is dryness, but have started with estring, which is helping. Not having periods or monthly pain is awesome! Good luck. Hope all goes well for you.

Ive had myself totally freaked out over the same thing. The ladies here, and a couple of personal friends who have had hysters have really put me at ease. I even called my grandma to get her input, and she assured me nothing changed sexually for her LOL
One friend of mine told me she asked her DR to throw a couple extra stitches in, and make her like a 17 yr old again. Thats the best laugh Ive had in weeks!!
