What flavor of Jammies do you prefer???

At the castle I just used their gowns and put one on backwards for a robe. I also didn't want DH to have to do laundry right away. For home I just wore nightgowns that came to the knee, and I bought a size bigger, but I like them loose and had just had a baby 3 months before. I stayed in the gowns for a week, then started wearing yoga pants and big t-shirts.

I agree with needing help for the kiddos, I had help arranged for almost 3 weeks, and I needed every minute of it!

Good luck!

I honestly can't remember what I wore in the hospital. I was in the hospital gown until the next morning - and once they took the catheter out and I got up out of bed - I went and 'washed" up and changed into something... Make sure it's big enough and loose! I got these great jammy pants at Zellers - they have elastic at the back - but the front is completely elastic free and has ribbon to tie as loose or tight as you wish. They were what I lived in for my recovery! Then when I had to go back to work - I found some fold down waistband culottes at Roots which were fabulous - I'm still wearing them - the incision on my belly button gets aggravated if anything is too tight (and everything was too tight!) so it really did the trick! Good luck to you! You're right - this is a great website!

I wore the hosptial gown, too. I had brought a nightgown but I honestly didn't feel up to changing into it. Also, the iv was still in and the hospital gowns unsnap at the should to go around the iv tube. The gowns open up so easily when they need to check on things and it would have been impossible to pull down pj bottoms those first few trips to the potty. I did use my robe over the gown for walking the hall. I'd say bring what you think you may like but be open to just hanging out in their oh-so-pretty duds. They do design them that way for a reason.

At home I have lived (start of week 3 recovery) in pjs with a top and VERY loose drawstring bottoms. They just seem more comfortable to me when folks come and visit or drop off a meal. I wouldn't feel as "covered" or "dressed" in a short nightgown.

Best of luck to you. This site was my sanity as I was waiting for my surgery. They all say it... but it's true... the WAITING was BY FAR the HARDEST part of this whole adventure!

It was hot when I got home from the hospital and my favorite outfit consisted of old, cotton T-shirts and old, cotton undies. I got the T-shirts from JC Penney catalog, the big and tall men's dept. If you get them a couple sizes bigger than you normally need and order XX-Tall, they are long enough to cover your derriere. There are all colors and styles (well, V-neck and regular neck, anyway...I recommend V-neck, more comfortable when lying around.) I did not want anything like pajama pants or sweat pants on my belly. I could wear pants if I had to go out, but not for lounging around. Long nightgowns I would avoid unless you're very chilly. They do get tangled up easily when you're struggling to get in and out of bed.

Be sure and have a stepstool near your bed if your bed is high.

Thanks ladies...very good ideas. Now let me ask you this....what about undies? No matter what style you get, they will touch the incision?? Just the thought of them pulling the staples or stitches...YOUCH!!!!

Make sure the waistline of the panties comes up to your waist. No low-cut styles, I would recommend. I had a bikini cut, so my incision was low. I think as long as there is no elastic right on the incision, it'd be OK. Your incision area is numb, but of course you don't want anything actually rubbing on it.
