How much rest do we need at six weeks?
Hi everyone,
How much rest do we need at 6 weeks? I have had a lot of lower back pain and shooting pains in my side and lower left pelvic region, doc said nerves are inflamed and that I have overdone it with walking etc (2 mile walks). Have been doing housework in moderation but not hoovering or lifting at all? What is everyone else doing at this point? I had an abdominal hyst for fibroids and adhesions (bladder stuck to cervix). Needless to say I am resting now! I thought I was pretty much ok. Obviously not!!
Hope everyones recoveries going well

How much rest do we need at six weeks?
It's too soon for you to be doing all of that. Listen to your body, if it says "rest" then rest. I still get tired. Remember you only have one chance to heal right so be careful. At 12 weeks I over did things with exercise (had TAH) and I was hurting for 3 weeks.. It's just not worth the pain. I had to start all over again with the exercise. All bodies are different. The recovery is just soooooooooo slow to me. I thought I would be all better by now but I still get aches and pains.
take care of yourself.

How much rest do we need at six weeks?
I don't get as tired as I did 6 weeks ago but I still get tired. It is not the same kind of tired. Sometimes I think I get so tired now because I am so out of shape from sitting around. I fall asleep every night in front of the TV for 3 or 4 hrs, about 8pm. I couldn't keep my eyes open if I tried to. I worked outside in the garden today for a hour and a half.I was doing alot of bending over , it was pulling some on my stomach but I don't feel anything right now. I must have escaped doing to much. hope you get to feeling better soon- Hugs

How much rest do we need at six weeks?
Hi Ready for gym and chapelgate. You are brave to try gardening!! Definately not going to try that at the moment even though its a mess and needs doing. I feel like someone has kicked me in the tummy at the moment and my back is still hurting. Has anyone had their 6 week check up. Mine is next Thursday. This pain has really scared me, thought there was some damage done or that I had cyst or something. Up to now I have been fine. Never mind. Thanks for support

How much rest do we need at six weeks?
Hi, I just rest when i feel like i need it i guess?I dont lift anything, if its not to heavy i will drag it..If its to heavy i will wait for my husband to do it when he gets home. I havent taken out the trash since my surgery...I do the light house cleaning. I have been walking on the treadmill for 15 minutes a day at a slow pace..

How much rest do we need at six weeks?
How much do we need at six weeks???? Let's see: at my six-week checkup, I arrived about 15 minutes before my appointment (after driving an hour to the clinic). I sat in a chair in the waiting room, and put my head down on the chair next to me for "just a minute". You guessed it -- 45 minutes later I woke with a start -- I had even drooled on the chair . I looked at the receptionist in horror and she assured me that my doc was attending to an emergency and she just wanted to let me sleep.
Does that give you a clue? (Your results may vary, of course ) I asked my doctor why I was so tired and he said that the body gets out of condition very quickly. At the six-week period, he said, I should just be starting to ease back in to normal activities , not expecting to be back to normal activities. That really helped me alot! Here I thought that, bingo -- I'd be 'healed' at six weeks! How wrong I was!
In other words, try to be as kind to yourself as possible. If you find yourself getting tired, go ahead and rest. The housework will wait (I read on another thread that you can even name the dust bunnies!) or someone else can do it for a while. Remember, you're royalty now.
Hope this helps.

Feeling better
I just passed the six week mark and am feeling a lot better. I still find, though, that if I am on my feet for very long - even if I'm not doing anything but taking care of my kids or visiting with friends, that I get extremely tired. We're getting a new puppy this week - Oh Lord... I hope I have the energy! Good luck and just remember to listen to your body - and get horizontal whenever possible!
