Post op bleeding

It's been 5 wks today since my surgery & I'm still bleeding. It gets somewhat heavy & then lightens up again. It doesn't seem to happen after possibly doing too much, it just happens whenever. A couple days ago it had lightened almost to the point that I thought it would subside finally...then yesterday it was back to heavy again. My 23 y.o. son has been in the hospital so I've been putting this on the back burner trying to focus on him. Just need to know if I should be spotting/bleeding at all right now? Or is it just par for the course? I need to call my gyn I know...just too much other stuff going on right now with my son.. Help...is anyone else experiencing this? Why is AF haunting me from the grave???? =S

Re: Post op bleeding

I notice that both of you had the TVH.
Maybe this is different than the surgery that I had (TAH, da Vinci robot).
Anyway, I was lucky I guess and did not bleed a drop.
Have you been doing too much?
Have you called your doctors? I would.
I don't think that you should be bleeding at all.
Maybe one or two of your stitches came apart and you need some help.
Get to the doctors office today. If you can not get in, go to the ER f your hospital.
One of my friends said that she was doing too much after her surgery.
She went in the shower and the blood was bright red. She felt light headed, and almost passed out. She called 911.
Once she got to the hospital, they had to go back in and stitch her up again. Apparently, she had "pulled out" some of her internal stitches.

The hospital staff claims that she could have died if she had just left it.

I am not saying that this is happening to you. Something minor or major could be going on here.
I am just advising to to seek the help of your doctors.

Hugs and Good Luck

Re: Post op bleeding

im five weeks post op today and doing the same thing. My check up appt is next week so I think im gonna tough it out til then, unless there is a dramatic change. From what I can tell on most of the threads here, this is pretty normal and we probably just need silver nitrate to treat it.
