Intestinal pain worse now than right after surgery

I was wondering if anyone else is feeling more pain as gas and poop move through their intestines than they did right after surgery. I am 10 days post TVH and my first few bm's weren't bad but now everytime something moves through I get intense intestinal cramps. Also when I pee I get a burning sensation at the end, but it doesn't really feel like a bladder infection. Maybe just some swelling in there. I have been taking it easier today, so maybe that will help??? Let me know if any of you have had similar experiences.

Once my bowels worked everything was fine, then a couple days later the gas pains started and things were less normal. I took Gas-X those couple days and things got better after about 2 days of that.

It takes awhile for things to settle back to normal.

My TVH was the same day as yours, and I have the same exact problem with the BM's. I have been taking it easy all week, but I'm getting a little more twinges in the lower abdomen/bladder, and it still hurts to have a BM, however, I think the latter has been getting better over the last day or two. Must be part of the recovery process! I'll be happy to reach my two-week mark and to have my first post-op which is Monday. I'd just like to get assurance that I'm healing as I should!

my TAH was 3 weeks ago and I was experiencing similar symptoms. It's pretty much gone now, so hang in there. I took Gas-X too. I also had that burning when I urinated and the doc wasn't convinced that it was a UTI. He said that as the bladder gets back to normal after a catheder there can be burning type sensations. That too is gone now. Hang in there

im 15days post opp and still getting V bad pain when ready for BM its fine when ive actually had BM though, im not constipated, ive been eating lots fresh fruit each day to keep me regular.

Thanks for the info. I'm glad to know that I'm not abnormal and that you all have had similar expiences. What would we do without each other? I am so grateful that I found this site and all of you. I too will be glad to have my 2 week check up on Tues so I can hopefully feel reassured that everything is healing on schedule. Between now and then I am going to take it pretty easy and hope all of these new twinges and pains gete better. Have a great day!

It's pretty normal to feel these things. It will take your body a while to get back to normal. 10 days is early. By 6 weeks all those bodily function sensations will most likely be gone. Some people have them a little longer, some get over it sooner. The burning pee sensation may be due to swelling although it may be an infection. It may be worthwhile to get that checked out.

My surgery was the day before yours and I'm still having gas pains. Make sure you're still taking a stool softner and GasX does help.
