dot in the wrong spot?? and weaning off the dot.
Today is my two week anniversary! Still achy with occassional sharp pains, but much much better...I'm happy to report.
I left the hospital with a huge patch and replaced it three days later with a prescription vivelle dot..much better. (I'm supposed to have two patches/week).
For some reason I thought I could put the dot anywhere that was clean and "hairfree" I think that was the direction. Then yesterday, I re-read the box and it said the dot needed to be on the abdomen. I seem to be doing just fine with putting the dot on the shoulder blade, so I'm wondering if I'm doing fine with getting less estrogen (if I'm getting less by putting the dot on the shoulder), or if it doesn't really matter where I put the dot.
Anyone else out there using the dot with input? Also, I'd love to eventually wean myself off altogether..anyone had experience with that?
Thanks,

I use the Dot, too, and I've heard others say it can even be put on your behind if you so desire, but I must confess that I've never heard of putting it on the shoulder.
I always assumed that you're supposed to put it on the abdomen because that's closest to where the ovaries were and where the estrodiol can get to the nerve receptors to be absorbed more easily. That's just my guess, though.
You might want to talk to your doctor. I know you're not supposed to put it on the breasts, but I don't know if the shoulder is close enough to the breast to be of concern or not.

Hi!
I am using the Vivelle Dot, too. I like it a lot as it controls symptoms and stays stuck on the full 3 1/2 days. I have mine on my abdomen now as suggested in the product directions. My understanding is that they should be worn below the waist. I think you should either put yours on your abdomen or call your doctor and/or pharmacist and ask about wearing it elsewhere.
When I decide to discontinue hormone therapy I'll do it gradually by lowering the dose I use over a long period of time to more closely mimic natural menopause. Vivelle Dot comes in a range of doses so that will make that part of it easier.
I hope your recovery is going well!
