Bladder control-A wee problem!

This morning I woke up and needed to wee quite urgently. It seems since my op I don't feel any need to wee until it is bladder burstingly urgent! I got out of bed and before I had made it to the bathroom I started weeing. I couldn't hold it at all or stop the flow. What is this about-anyone know?

Re: Bladder control-A wee problem!

I'm not entirely sure what it's all about, but it is pretty common. I could never tell when I had to go during the first few weeks. I just made a habit of going every couple of hours whether I felt like I needed to or not, and whenever I woke up at night. Eventually the familiar feeling will come back, or at least it did for me.

Re: Bladder control-A wee problem!

Wow, this actually happened to someone else! It happened to me once..I had also been totally in the dark with my bladder feelings, it just felt numb for a while.I tried to be sure I kept my bladder as empty as possible because if it got full I ached more. It was strange, after I went my bladder would ache momentarily too, I just guess it was the changes that were happening. I didn't have a clue when I needed to void, but the normal sensations did return.
Anyway, I am almost a year out and it happened just that once. I have no bladder issues now. I just figured my parts were still swollen and non responsive...

You might discuss this with your doc, but I bet it is transient...hugs to you..

Re: Bladder control-A wee problem!

Thanks for sharing. I've been reading some other posts and some people say the bladder can 'fall back' to where the uterus used to be-this can cause problems. Hope it goes back to normal-its just adding to the general feeling that my body is totally out of control!

Re: Bladder control-A wee problem!

I wondered about the support of my bladder too, as all my parts were removed with the exception of the vagina.

My doc told me she detached the uterine ligaments during the surgery and then reattached them to the vaginal stump or cuff. She said this formed the support for the bladder and kept the vagina in place. So the issues once experienced by the lack of support was a non issue. You might talk to your doc to see if that was done for you too.

I have a feeling that is why my remaining part is just fine, and no bladder problems.

Re: Bladder control-A wee problem!

I have a sling and urethral sling so might be different but my bladder is also doing the same thing. I've had to go almost every hour with urgency and once when I stood up it just came out. Maybe normal? Checking with Dr couldn't hurt though.
