Larger sizes in clothing for after surgery?
I went up just one size but I highly recommend buying loose fitting clothing. I bought two pairs of yoga pants and have been wearing them all the time. The main area you will need more room is the belly. My swelly belly is still there after 3 weeks post-op and I'm still not comfortable in my pre-surgical clothing.
I did lose 8 pounds the first week but still can't comfortably wear my pre-surgical clothing because of the swelly belly.
Best of luck.

Larger sizes in clothing for after surgery?
Hi, I actually lost a few pounds at first too but with the incision my normal clothes were not comfortable. I bought undies a couple sizes bigger than normal and pants with elastic waists. I also wore lose jumpers for awhile - they were the best - nothing at my waist. I still wear them around the house and I'm 3 years post op

: Nice to see I' not the only one who keeps my clothes around for awhile lol I have my first pair of brand name tennis shoes lol they were bought for me when I was in the 7th grade lol my foot is the same size its like I stopped growing after 7th grade (5'3-96 lbs foot size 4 1/2) lol but oh yeah the thread I asked my doctor and he said for me I would have to wear things like jogging pants etc as well for atleast a few weeks depending on how fast I heal so I think I will go buy some in actual grown up size lol as I'm so tired of shopping for my clothes in the kiddie dept. its like every pair of jeans has flowers on them or like girl power written on them lol ok i'm done rambling now lol *hugs to you all* xoxoxo

Also, you may want to try overalls...they are roomy and very comfy! I wore those alot, and still do.
I still don't like to wear anything tight around my waist. I found some pull on pants at Wal Mart that work wonderful, and they have spandex!
Just make sure you have some loose fitting clothing, because your belly will be sore for quite some time. During recovery, I wore cotton nightshirts most of the time, with no undies! Hated anything touching my belly!
Best wishes!

Larger sizes in clothing for after surgery?
I think I have gotten more use out of my athletic type [jogging] pants than anything else, besides my 2 sizes to big, high wader panties.
When I go back to work in 2-3 weeks, it'll be knit elastic waisted skirts and a lot of loose dresses. I think I will need to get out and get some nice tight type knee highs...its blasted cold here now.

Larger sizes in clothing for after surgery?
Before surgery I bought a 3 pack of undies 2 sizes too big, and 6 pack of 1 size too big and it has worked out well. Those initial days I was very tender!! Buy the style that the waistband won't hit were your incision(s) is.
I have been wearing drawstring pants and jumper type dresses. Target and Chadwick's catalog are fairly inexpensive.

I suggest you don't spend too much on bigger clothes in case you don't end up needing them. For me, I haven't really got swelly belly, but I don't want anything too close to my belly because it is tender. However, I've lost a bit of weight and the clothes I had already are too big. I haven't ended up wearing the big clothes at all. What would have been better, for me, is normal size clothes but no tight waistbands or snug fits.

I still have a swelly belly 7 weeks post op. Not bad though it's about the same as it was when I left the hospital. I just wore my husbands sweats since I could adjust the waist with the string. I still love those sweats! I know the belly will eventually go away and I'm working on losing it but kick back and don't worry too much about it. If I didn't have my husband's sweats I would have probably gone out and bought a couple of pair for post op anyway. Take Care and wishing you a quick recovery!

I'm planning to wear caftans all around the house...don't plan on going anywhere for a while after surgery. For going out I'll wear a loose dress or large pants with a long loose top & no heels of course!
