a little more than spotting....?

Hello,

I am 6 weeks plus 5 days, post op and my husband and I waited until the doctor cleared me to have relations. 3 days ago was "the day" and I woke up this morning with pink discharge. (Only when I wiped my self-a bit more than spotting on the paper). I was not in pain during or immediately after, should I be concerned? I am a bit scared to try again if it is going to make things worse.

Thank you for your help.

Re: a little more than spotting....?

Though we often hear that the majority of healing occurs within 4-6 weeks, our bodies each have their own clocks! So, you might take a bit longer than the general time table. I know I did!

Also, some ladies find that they do have some vaginal dryness issues that can contribute to some spotting following intercourse. Sometimes these issues resolve on their own when the ovaries settle back down and work properly again.

Additionally, I see in your profile that you still have both your cervix and ovaries. Thus, it is possible you are actually having a mini period. Since the cervix is not a separate organ but rather the neck of the uterus, it can have endometrial lining which continues to respond to your hormones.

It is always okay to talk to your doctor about your concerns to be sure all is well. And if you find you are have bright red bleeding that fills a pad an hour, seek medical attention ASAP!

I think Weiser said it all there. I was like you for the first few times..but three months post op and I'm fine.
