questions at 5 wks out.

Hello sisters just had a few questions. I am almost 5 weeks out and still have a cath in place. What is the average time for this and will my bladder ever work right. I know we have to eat right but what is eating right. My dr. said just to stay away from dairy and no raw fruits and veggies. Does this sound right. I had a salad the other day and had the runs for 2 days. Also since my dr said to stay away from dairy i was wondering if i should take any calcium pills.

Are there medical reasons why you still have your cath still in they took mine out day 2 of surgery i had a tah on the 13th sep but im way over here in australia may be they do things diff over there, i still get pains doing pee but not a infection just healing i think.
Eating,, im eating less than i was before surgery carnt eat the big meals any more. i thought they took cath out before you come home
maybe other sisters can give you some advice

Normally from what I've heard/read, cath is removed within 48 hours and before discharge from castle.

I did have an issue 15 years ago that required a cath for 2 weeks, but it was pretty extreme. I'm going to assume that there is a medical reason for you to still have this in, but it seems like a very long time.

If you are supposed to follow specific diet orders in order to get this removed I would try to stick to them. I've just never heard of anyone having a cath for this long from a hysterectomy, so I may not be the best to help.

My heart is with you though as I know how tough it was to have one in even 2 weeks!
