TLH: Upcoming hysterectomy: Anyone live alone after TLH?

Hi All,

I have my TLH scheduled for July 22 for fibroids and it is possibly going to be open because of the size of my uterus and position of fibroid. I live in a four story walk-up on the top floor and I wonder if anyone had gone thru this living alone and what options for my after hospital care. My surgeon said everything will be fine but I'm am not convinced.

Is your doctor aware of the fact that you have four flights of stairs? Do you have a friend that might step in for at least a couple of days to help you out? I had a vaginal and I have done amazing...I could have made it alone if I had been forced to...but I only have like 7 steps to get into my one level home. I hope you do well but I would advise you to make some arrangements for some assistance for at least a few days.

Yes I and my advocate tried explaining that to no avail. It's frustrating.

I don't live alone but I'll be alone. I have 2 story house, twin 2 year olds and a 4 year old
