Go Away Aunt Flo!

My TAH is in 5 days, so wouldnt ya know it my period had to go and start yesterday! I have been bleeding almost non stop for 4 months, then finally it stopped for about 10 days, I am so glad it did, I got to get buisy with the DH I am going to feel embarrised by it though, you know the whole cathater thing is bad enough without also being on your period! I cant wait until im all healed up and never have the curse visit me ever again! I will save a ton of money, not haveing to buy giant pads by the truckload! Even on the few days when I wasnt bleeding this several months I wore an over-night sized pad just in case, I never knew when it would start gushing! I think a lot of you can relate to periods that rule your life. I told my DH that I want a tattoo of a little uterous with wings flying away, he thinks I am crazy and when I said it I was kidding at first, but I just might do it! I am going to at least get a little cancer ribbon, for my-self and for my sweet sister-inlaw who we lost almost a year ago. Thank God for the nurse practicioner that found mine so early on, and Thank God it was in a part I was done with anyway!
I am so glad I found this site, such good info and tips, you are all awesome, and those of you that are post-op give us all pre-op the knowledge and strength to get through it too!

Go Away Aunt Flo!

I started my last period in the wee hours of morning before getting up to go to the hospital for my hysterectomy. It's like Aunt Flo just has to rear her ugly head one last time! I was so afraid they would cancel the surgery, and so relieved when the doctor told me it was no big deal.

Best wishes on your trip to the "castle".

Go Away Aunt Flo!

I've been thinking of getting a uterus tattoo, too! I always said I would get a tattoo only to honor something major and important in my life, and I think this qualifies. I did find a really funky looking artsy picture of a uterus, with lots of colors, but I might be better off finding something that could be a metaphor for a uterus that I wouldn't mind showing to people.

Go Away Aunt Flo!

Hi Chris,

Saw your message to "Go Away Aunt Flo", and I'm one of your Wisconsin sisters up in Hayward! I had my LATVH/BSO on October 20, 2008. I see yours is happening the day after Christmas. What as the endometrial ablation done for? I had endpmetriosis all my life with uterine prolapse in the end, but what a relief now after surgery! No more pain! Found out that my uterus was very enlarged and that was causing my pain. Good luck to you in your new beginning after Christmas! Thoughts and hugs to you.
