Ex Huas Ted
Ladies, I am sooooooooooo exhausted when I get home from work (8-5 M-F). My dh has been taking such good care of me. When I get home at 5:30pm, I go straight to my bed and I am done for the day!! Dinner is usually done or cooking, the children are occupied, the home is clean, there is nothing more that I can ask him to do. (and because of all this, my libido is JUST FINE, I must tell ya)
Problem, WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH ME. Just doing the basics of cleaning off my dresser yesterday took longer that it ever should!! I am 5 months post op and have too much to do to be down like this. I mean, I am actually, dare I say it, SLEEPY when i get home, which is the opposite of what I was before surgery.
Is there something that can be prescribed to boost my energy, I know that I am not anemic because I don't menstruate anymore!! HELP

Exhausted!
Full recovery from a hyst can take quite some time. I know it was a full year before I finally got most of my stamina back. Are you having any other symptoms? Of course, it never hurts to give the doctor a call and let him/her know how you've been feeling.

Exhausted!
I know exactly what your going through!!! I thought it was just me so it does make me feel a little better. I'm the same way by the time I get home from work now only am I so sore I'm ready for bed. It really bugs me because I would like to spend time with my family but I am so wore out it takes everything in me to get up at 4 am and get my tail out the door to go to work... I had my TAH in July. So hugs to you sister I feel for you as well!

Exhausted!
I too had my surgery in June. I have been working full time for about two months. Like you, when I get home, its straight for the couch, or bed sometimes. So, your not alone. I have been taking vitamins and they seem to help some, but I also heard that it can take up to a full year before you get all the energy back. Glad you have support inside the home. I couldn't have done it without my dh and children. Good luck!

Exhausted!
I agree with Kim M, FULL recovery can take a year. My SIL told me this pre-op and I thought "not me". Well, she was right!
At 2 1/2 months post-op I started a new job, two days a week. I was exhausted when I got home! I hadn't worked in six years, so that alone was tiring, but to add to it the fact that I was still recovering just did me in most evenings. Now I am at 8 months post-op and working 10 hour shifts (up from the original 8 hours) and I don't feel nearly as tired when I get home.
Be patient and rest when you need to. Your body is still healing and it will take some time to get back to all that you were able to do pre-op. If you are worried about your energy being too low, talk to you doctor. Make sure that you are not anemic. It can take some time and extra iron to rebuild your hemoglobin back to normal values if you were anemic pre-op.
Meanwhile...kiss that wonderful husband and ask him to cuddle up with you on the couch while you rest!

Hummmm
Well I finally had enough today being so ehausted all the time, so I called my doc, and of course talked to the nurse first and she just can't understand why I have no "energy" she said it's not like your loosing blood anymore. RRRRRRrrrrrrrrr I didn't even know what to say back to her I was so upset from the lack of sympothy and the fact she acted as if I was crazy. She said well you should just check with your pcp. I said to her well maybe is there some vitamins or something else I could be lacking from this, she said all I can say is you need to talk to your pcp. I was so mad I could've spit 16 penny nails...LOL Thank god Kesha you have a loving dh because I have one that just don't understand or get the situation. He hasn't been real supportive so it's made everything so much more difficult for me. Sometimes I just want to through my hands up in the air and give up.....Love and hugs to all my sisters I hope you have better luck.

Exhausted!
Don't give up! Its just the ignorance of some nurses. I truley believe it takes a nurse or female ob/gyn who has gone through this to understand the different issues involved. I lucked out and had wonderful nurses, and a great ob/gyn, who still calls weekly about my progress even though it took place in June. My husband didn't understand either, and probably still don't. Perhaps, they just don't want to. They seem to avoid any female problem like the plague. I stay exhausted. Raising four children, working full time, taking care of house, etc. I just started taking a hormone prometrium and 50 mg. of zolfot. It seems to help the emotional stuff, but not the physical issue. I am also taking a vitamin supplement with extra calcium. Hang in there, it does get better. You just have to have alot of patience, with yourself, health care providers and family. Keep your head up and always remember that there are plenty of wonderful people here to support you.

Exhausted!
I am so glad to see this thread! I had my TAH/BSO on July 18th and I am so tired when I get home from work that I just crash on the couch. I'm a teacher and this year I'm feeling like such a failure because I just don't have the energy or drive I had last year! Maybe it is just the recovery zapping my energy. Plus, I'm on my third cold of the year already! Glad to hear others are in the same boat! Best of luck everyone!
