Re: Is it normal to have an uncontrolled breakdown 5 weeks after hysterectomy

Thanks to all for words and suggestions of encouragement and help. I have been working with a therapist since this happened with a specific type of therapy and have continued with antidepressants. I'm very focused and determined to get through this very upsetting situation, inspite of the fact that my son and daughter in law still refuse to see or communicate with me and will not allow me to see my granddaughter. I have apologized through text, voicemail, and several hand written cards and letters to no avail and with no reply. I have taken full responsibility for my actions and am doing all I can to get help and support every way I can. However each day is different, some very sad and painful and others more positive. I also use exercise, meditation and motivational reading and a lot of prayer. Please send any other ideas that might be helpful. Thanks from colorzone.

Re: Is it normal to have an uncontrolled breakdown 5 weeks after hysterectomy

Two weeks after my surgery I had the saddest feeling I have ever had in my life. I can't explain it, but I had an overbearing sense of sadness that brought me to tears at times. This lasted for several weeks. I never had depression when I delivered my children, but the sadness I felt was really awful after my surgery.

Finally, I came to the conclusion that my body was telling me, "Hey, you lost something important here and you need to be sad about it for awhile." I had my surgery way after menopause, and that "sadness feeling" eventually went away. Again, I can't explain it very well, but I've never felt so sad in my life. Good thing it only lasted a few weeks.
