Pre-op out of the way.

Well the pre-op was a bit of a non event here really. I was getting so nervous before hand my stomach was gurgling but now it is over dont know why I was being so daft.

As my op is being covered in full by BUPA (seemed a lot of money at the time but so far in the past 4 years I have made a profit on it!) it was a bit of a different experience to the Uk NHS norm.

I went in and they then sent me down to pathology for bloods to be taken, then DH and me sat in a room and the nurse went through the questionnaire, what do you weigh how tall are you etc. She took my blood pressure 136/51 and my temperature. I was in the middle of a hot flush at the time but it didnt make any difference.

The nurse was the same lady that saw me when I had adhesions removed in November so that made things easier, she didnt need to tell me some of the more obvious things. She did say that I would need at least six weeks off work whether I feel better or not and to expect to be in at least 5 nights maybe seven. As I suffer from constipation despite good diet etc, she said that they would make sure everything was working properly before letting me home. She said to expect a catheter for a day or two (whoopee) and that it would depend on my consultants preference as to how he seals me up! The Nurse then gave me a little booklet on it which was all the normal bits.

DH looked shocked that he would have to take a couple of days off to look after me but I am not sure if he was just winding me up or not!

And that was that for now. I was in there all of half an hour.I didnt really have many questions to ask as she said that the experience will be similar to the other ops I have had. I guess I will be more nervous on Monday before the pre-meds kick in!

Ironically enough the past two days I have been getting a lot of pain from my previous oopherectomy scar but I am not sure if its stress making the muscles tight = pain!

Maybe at last this long nightmare will soon be over. But I bet I dont get all the things done I wanted to.

I wont see my doc now until the surgery day and he was not at my pre-op.

Take care sisters. I dont think I would have gotten this far so sanely if it wasnt for this site!
