almost 5 weeks post op w/ vaginal hood infection

Good morning to all the hyster sisters ,

I have a vaginal hood infection. Has ayone else had this problem? I am on antibiotics but still have alot of PAIN x 1 week. I just want to feel normal again!

Not to sound dumb, but is a vaginal hood the same as a vaginal cuff. If so what symptoms did you have to know you had an infection?

I did not have any symptoms other than painful lower ab, I thought that was normal post op pain? I actually thought I was doing good and even wanted to go back to work. During my internal exam I was extremely tender, my Dr ordered an ultrasound done in the office which revealed inflammation of the hood or cuff. I am on antibiotics but I still feel pain which has not gotten any better.
Did you have something similar?

No, I just wondered how you would know if you had an infection. Fever, pain? I never knew about vaginal cuffs until I joined this board. I know I have one because my doctor took out the cervix but he never mentioned the vaginal cuff to me. I've read alot of scary posts about it and the problems some women have. Especially the bleeding and infections. I guess I just want to be in the know in case I have any problems.

Thanks for the hug I really need it! I am getting tired of not feeling well. I pray that this is all over soon and i can get back to norm!
