hospital is 2 hours away

Hi All,

My surgery is scheduled for April 5, 2005 and the hospital is 2 hours away. I was wondering if anyone else has been through this so far from home and if so any suggestion on the ride home. I'm sure not looking forward to it. I will be having a LAVH, A&P repair with incision on the outside and bladder sling. Hospital stay is supposed to be 2 or 3 days if all goes well.

Thanks
Kristy

hospital is 2 hours away

my myemectomy was a few years ago and the journey home took an hour, and was absolutely fine - i put a pillow under my seatbelt, and just relaxed at being in the familiar surroundings of our family car! The worst bit was getting in and out of the car and even that wasnt too bad... hopefully it will be as pleasant when i go in this time.

take care

hospital is 2 hours away

Hi, my hospital was about 45 minutes away and I made it home reasonably well with the help of a few pillows. I had a tah/bso with a bikini cut that was stapled.

If you can, have whoever is driving you use the most comfortable vehicle possible to take you home. My mini van worked well. I don't think that I'd have been happy in my DH's pickup truck

Also, it might help if you make sure that you've gotten your pain meds recently before you start home. And see if you can get the prescription ahead of time so that someone can get it filled and waiting for you when you get home.

Best wishes.

hospital is 2 hours away

Hi! I am having a LAVH on Mar.21st. My hospital is 3 hours from home. My doctor asked that we stay in town by the hospital for 2 days after being released from the hospital. Then I will be making that trip home! I am planning on reclining with a bunch of pillows and some pain meds!! Good luck to you!
