5 1/2 weeks post-op & bleeding

I am 5 1/2 weeks post op, had my "6" week post appt this past Friday and dr cleared me to pick up my son (35 #). I picked him up twice Friday evening and since then I've been bleeding off & on like a light period. I'm getting a little worried, but can decide if I should wait for my drs office to open tomorrow or run up to urgent care. Any suggestions?

I'm at the same point of recovery as you. I had my post op on Wed. and had told the DR. about some spotting I was doing. He said it was nothing to be concerned about. I overdid yesterday and sure enough spotted again last night so I took it easy today. When I saw the doctor Wed., he told me I still had several internal stitches left so it could be that's the cause. I guess it depends on the amount of blood you are seeing and how concerned you are as to what you do. There are many posts here about spotting that you could check out to see what others have experienced and done.

I wouldn't pick up your son if it is causing light bleeding. Perhaps place a call tomorrow to the dr's office to let them know that while you had the go-ahead, now it's causing bleeding. I would keep them abreast of it.
