Scheduled LSH 3-13-13

Hello Everyone! I'm a newbie on this site but I have been reading alot of post on here, very helpful.

My LSH is schedule next week on the 13th and I have asked my doctor office if there is any pre-op bowel or any food restriction I have to follow and the answer is no. The only thing is for me not to eat or drink anything after midnight the day before my surgery.

Could that be possible?

Re: Scheduled LSH 3-13-13

Hello, as far as I heard its up to each surgeon, I just had mine 11 days ago, laposcopic and my oncologist had me start Boswell prep 2 days before, from what I hear they want the area to be completely free of anything for this type of surgery

I think also you will feel better after surgery not having anything in your system

Hope all goes well for you and I'm glad Your checking out this site ,gives you such a peace of mind, please feel free if your have any other questions🌞

Re: Scheduled LSH 3-13-13

Many docs do not require bowel prep. My doc believes that bowel prep is unnecessary and only leads to dehydrated patients the day of surgery.

The bowel prep depends on the type of procedure(s) you are having and Dr's preference. I had a bowel prep which was similar to what I had prior to my colonoscopies.

Re: Scheduled LSH 3-13-13

Hi loveone 70 and welcome from one newbie to another! Everyone is so supportive and helpful at Hystersisters that I feel blessed to have been introduced to them by a friend who had her hysterectomy 12 months ago. Sharing all that support and information really made all the difference to me. I'm having mine the day before yours! The pre-op instructions he gave me printed out were, clear fluids only one day before surgery for the whole day e.g. clear soup, clear broth, clear juices like apple juice, black tea or coffee, no milk. A bowel prep called 'Picoprep" here in Australia to be taken at 6pm the night before and nothing to eat or drink from midnight before the surgery. Also shower including washing hair (not your normal shampoo) with Gamophen medicated soap the night before and then shower that morning as well. Hospital arrival is 6am and told was second on the list. I'm having my surgery laproscopically with uterus, both ovaries and cervix to be removed. Good luck sweetie and don't worry. We'll all be thinking of you and take care.xoxo.
