Avoiding prolapse ??

Hi Ladies!

I've posted here before I had my hyst. I had a TVH on March 8th for horrible bleeding. Pretty text book surgery. Uterus, cervix, and 1 tube removed. I've been feeling great. No pain pills for the last couple of days.
Anyway....back to my question...
I've been reading about prolapses after hysterectomies. Especially when there's no cervix. Is there anyway to help prevent that from happening? In addition to kegals? I've had 4 kids vaginally. My gyn checked me before surgery and said everything was ok so far. I was going to start a running program after I was released at 6 weeks (hopefully), but from what I've been reading, that may not be a good idea because it could cause a prolapse to occur. I need to deal with this weight. Calorie counting can only get you so far. I have some (ok, a lot) of fat to deal with.
Thanks for all your input!!

Re: Avoiding prolapse ??

I would suggest you begin a walking program after talking to your doctor, of course, especially if you've never been a runner. I read it could take 6-12 months for our inner stitches to completely heal. I would not risk it. I won't risk it.

Walking will help you lose weight too, you know Before I became a runner and weight trainer, I walked exclusively and did some pilates. I stayed trim and slim too. I decided to take up running 2 years ago, and to be honest, I really don't think I'll be going back to it, or serious weight training ever again. In a year from now, I may do light weight resistant training, but nothing like I use to do.

I encourage you to walk
