3 wks No problems...til now

Help, Ladies, please.

Up until this past Friday, which marked my 3 week post op, I'd had no problems other than feeling uncomfortable and some swelling. Since Friday, I've spotted off and on and my lower back is killing me (when I stand -- if I walk or am sitting or laying down it's fine).

I've taken it easy and other than cooking dinner once or twice (nothing complicated), I've been a really good girl.

When I think of spotting I think of a "spot" or two when you wipe from going to the bathroom, but what I'm experiencing is more of a trickle.

I'm kind of worried, but then I feel like I'm being a big baby.

I see the doc tomorrow and I don't know what I should mention and what I shouldn't.

I'd really appreciate any and all advice, even if you tell me to just suck it up.

Thanks

I don't know if that's normal or not. I know I started spotting a week post-op and continued to spot for a few days.
But definitely bring this to your dr's attention tomorrow. Good luck!

You are not a baby, and you do not have to suck up anything!

If you are worried (and you said you are) tell the doctor everything that is going on, and ask all your questions until they give you answers that satisfy you.

I can only tell you my own experience, and at 3 weeks post-op I couldn't stand for more than a few minutes before my back started hurting. So I didn't stand for long!

I had no bleeding of any kind (I'm a lucky one) once I left the hospital, but tomorrow is a perfect opportunity for you to let the doc know exactly what's going on, and find out it it's normal for you. That's what they get paid the big bucks for!

Just my here, but other people should be cooking dinner for you right now, not the other way around. Let others take care of you for a change.

Good luck tomorrow and let us know what the doctor says.

From my experience so far, I have to say that the 3rd week was the worst for me. I too experienced no bleeding since the hospital "lucky" but I saw my surgeon 1 week po for suture removal and he did warn me that week3 -week4, It would not be unexpected to experience a little bleeding. Never happened for me, but may ease your mind. That third week my back was really sore, and the zappers started "nerves reattaching" and I spent more tears that week, but as I entered week 4, I felt a major turn around and started to feel a lot better. Im now week 5 and If I overdue the back still seems to talk to me, but from what I understand its working overtime, due to week abdomimal muscles. Make a list of questions for your Doctor though, because everyone is different. Good luck. Cathy

I am at three weeks today, still pretty sore and still need to nap in the afternoon for the most part. As far as bleeding I havent bled but I did have a fairly heavy brownish (like last day peroid blood) discharge not only vaginally but from my incision as well. Only a light vag discharge now. Yes I get those zaps of pain mostly in my right side and also in my vulva on the left, dr also told me it was because they tie off sutures in that area and also because the nerves were reconnecting. I am getting around pretty good but do have bouts of fatigue daily. I do too much at times but living alone makes that a necessity oh well. I had hoped to feel much better by this time but over all I think that i am about on schedule.
Best of Luck

I am 2 1/2 weeks post op. I started bleeding this morning. I knew that the stitiches would dissolve and there could be some bleeding. But......there were a few small clots and really bright, bright red blood. I called the Dr. and he told me to get to the office if it got heavier than what a normal period used to be. I guess I was under the impression that there was only to be a minimal amount of bleeding. And, I'm not sure I would know what "normal" bleeding for a period would be. (that's why I'm in this to begin with).

The backaches have been horrible. And we are having a bad heatwave. So, I've had heat rash. My incision is nearly healed up. But, that has been a constant struggle. I have one small place that isn't healed yet. My Dr. said that if that hadn't healed by the next appointment, he would use some Silver Nitrate. What is that???

It definitely is a day to day recovery.

I am also one of the "lucky" ones. I have not seen a drop of blood since the day of surgery, and have had no drainage or discharge. So, I can't relate to that part. As for back pain, I do remember having that (and still do from time to time).

I would definitely tell the dr. *everything* that is going on. If you have questions, write them down.

Week 3 and 4 seem to be tough for most of us. Just be careful as you begin to feel better...that's when we tend to overdo. Take good care of yourself and let us know how you are doing.

I was 3 weeks on Sunday, and although I had been doing great the week or two before that, found I was exhausted this weekend (I slept 11 hours Saturday night). I've been back working (part time desk job) since week 2 without a problem, but fell asleep last night around 6, slept until 8:30, got up for a couple of hours and then went to bed for the night. This a.m. I have had a little spotting for the FIRST time (nothing on a liner, only when I wipe) and felt achy so took Motrin. SO RELIEVED to hear that week 3 to 4 can be tougher as I was wondering what the heck is going on!

Love this website!!
