Bad sleeping arrangements

I am worried about my sleeping arrangements post-op. My bed is very high up and I am short and extremely round. Strain to get out of it. I have a recliner, but strain to get the footrest down. The recliner is also a loveseat. Maybe a could sleep on it that way. Any suggestions. I am having robotic surgery, but I don't want to burst my incisions.

Re: Bad sleeping arrangements

I slept in the recliner part of our sofa for the first week. Not so much because I couldn't get in and out of bed I just wasn't comfortable laying flat on my back. Plus I didn't sleep that well and didn't want to wake DH up during the night. I think at first I just left the footrest up and put my feet over to the side to get up. After a few days I felt okay pushing the footrest down. Last night was the first time I slept in the bed - still mostly on my back which I don't like.

Re: Bad sleeping arrangements

My bed is also high, and I am short. I have a small footstool (the collapsible kind that's only about 12 inches tall) next to the bed. It has made getting in and out of bed much easier for me.

Re: Bad sleeping arrangements

I left the recliner open for weeks and swung my legs over to the side to get in and out. My bed wasn't high, but since yours is get something to step up on. Make sure it is large enough that you won't lose your balanced and topple over though!

Re: Bad sleeping arrangements

My bed is super high, I literally have to climb to get in it. I slept in thr recliner for 2 weeks. I just couldn't get comfy in thr bed at all. I was worried about orrying it up and down also, but that was no problem at all.
